Diablo Resources hits up to 5.92g/t gold at historic Devils Canyon project in USA
The maiden drilling is the first at the project since the late 1980’s
Follow up drilling at Southside and Ridgeline prospects planned
Final assays also pending from King Solomon, where drilling returned 12.28g/t last month
Diablo Resources has flagged some solid gold and copper hits from the maiden RC drilling program at its Devils Canyon project in Nevada, USA.
The project consists of 90 mineral claims covering 6.56 km2 within the Carlin Trend in Nevada that has produced more than 195 million ounces of gold.
It’s also 20km from Kinross Gold’s Bald Mountain gold mine and 40 km from Barrick Gold’s Ruby Hill gold mine.
And yet this is the first time the project has been drilled since the late 1980’s, when several shallow RC holes returned encouraging results.
The company is off to a great start, with the maiden 10 hole, 855m RC drilling identifying multiple mineralised zones that are open in all directions across the project.
“This maiden program has provided the impetus for planning and permitting a follow-up drill program to test the potential of these intercepts at depth and along strike,” Diablo Resources (ASX:DBO) CEO Lyle Thorne said.
Up to 5.92 g/t at the Ridgeline prospect
Results from the RC drilling testing the Southside, Eastside and Ridgeline prospects include:
3m at 3.02 g/t gold (including 1.5m at 5.92 g/t gold) from 9m (Ridgeline prospect);
3m at 2.29 g/t gold (including. 1.5m at 4.12 g/t gold) from 50.3m (Southside prospect);
1.5m at 3.7 g/t silver, 0.25 g/t gold, 1.10% copper from 7.5m (Southside prospect);
10.5m at 16 g/t silver, 0.75 g/t gold from 57.9m (including. 1.5m at 56 g/t silver, 1.7 g/t gold, 1.07% copper) from 62.5m (Southside prospect);
10.5m at 12.5 g/t silver, 0.43% copper from 54.9m (Southside prospect); and
1.5m at 31.2 g/t silver, 0.69 g/t gold, 0.65% copper from 41.6m (Southside prospect).
Notably, the Ridgeline prospect returned the highest gold result in the drill program, reflecting the historical surface rock chip sampling results that returned between 1.12-191.5 g/t gold.
“These are an outstanding set of initial results from our maiden RC drilling program at Devils Canyon,” Thorne said.
“The shallow drilling focussed on several prospective areas, targeting high grade surface anomalism, with significant down hole results identifying several mineralised zones, that are open in all directions.”
Follow up drilling planned
Further work, including investigating the effectiveness of ground-based geophysics and re-modelling of the 2020 drone magnetic survey are planned to better define identified mineralisation.
This will aid in the planning of follow-up drilling to test the Southside and Ridgeline prospects along strike and at depth, DBO says.
Meanwhile, final assays are pending from the company’s King Solomon project, where results maiden drilling last month – also the first at the project in decades – included an outstanding 13m at 12.28g/t gold from 46m, including 4.1m at 26.26g/t gold.
