Special Report: Mako Gold’s rock chip sampling at the top priority Tchaga North prospect within its Napié project in Côte d’Ivoire has discovered gold-mineralised areas with top assays of up to 79.5g/t gold.

Current exploration work at Tchaga North is focused primarily on a western greenstone/granite contact where high-grade gold hits were discovered.

Mako Gold (ASX:MKG) is using this work to generate new targets for a planned drill campaign at the new east-west structural trend.

This is part of its broader ambition to build a multimillion-ounce West African gold play, a goal that is underpinned by its existing 868,000oz resource across the Napié and Korhogo project.

New gold zones

MKG’s rock chip sampling returned high-grade results including 79.5g/t, 60.66g/t and 44.73g/t gold from new areas exposed by artisanal mining along the newly identified east-west structural trend.

Notably, the company pointed out wide-spaced drilling in areas with previous limited drilling would not have tested the east-west trend, as its drilling was done parallel to these new structures.

“We are thrilled with these high-grade rock chip results at Tchaga North,” MKG managing director Peter Ledwidge said.

“The mapping and rock chip sampling program which identified the yet to be drilled east-west structures hosting gold-bearing quartz veins, indicate that we may have discovered a high-grade system at Tchaga North.

“After the completion of the mapping/rock chip sampling program, we will prioritise the areas and plan new holes to test these structures with north-south oriented drill holes.”

The road ahead

MKG will now complete mapping and rock chip sampling at Tchaga North.

Once assays are received and announced, the company will plan a drilling campaign to target high-grade gold at the new prospective areas identified by the ongoing mapping/rock chip sampling program.
