Norwest Minerals reports up to 6.2% copper at the Bali copper project in WA
Drilling also confirmed 700m V6 target flagged during field work last year
Further drilling is planned for 2024

Special Report: Norwest Minerals says assay results for RC drilling undertaken late last year at its Bali Copper project in WA have returned up to 6.2% copper and confirmed a 700m structural target.

Small-scale oxide copper mining was undertaken at Bali in the 1950s and 60s, and the last time RC drilling was completed was at the Bali Lo and Bali High prospects in 1983.

In October 2022, RC drilling was competed along ~4km of the Main Bali shear zone, intersecting broad zones of copper mineralisation grading up to 1.5%.

Norwest Minerals (ASX:NWM) has since discovered 10 high-grade copper structures at the project, including the copper-rich conglomerate target – known as V6 – which averages 18% copper at surface and measures up to 5m wide.

The company has now intersected copper oxide extending down-dip from V6 and plans to drill the promising V1 and V2 copper-gold structures later this year.

Up to 6.2% copper intersected

The company drilled 11 RC holes for a total of 880m with eight of the holes targeting the V6 ‘conglomerate’ structure located near the western tenement boundary.

The other three RC holes tested the smaller V3 and V10 structures.

The drilling confirmed narrow oxide copper mineralisation extends down dip from the high-grade rock chip samples collected along the V6 and V3 structures while undertaking field mapping in 2023.

Notable results included:

3m at 6.2% copper from 13m (BRC004);
2m at 1.1% copper from 9m (BRC002);
4m at 1.0% copper from 23m (BRC005);
1m at 1.6% copper from 26m (BRC003); and
1m at 4.5% copper from 18m (BRC008).

Norwest is planning further RC drilling of the V1 and V2 targets, where rock chip samples contain strong copper and gold mineralisation.
