Exploration activities kick off at Haystack Well to progress targets to the drill testing phase

Special Report: Tambourah Metals has started an exploration program comprising mapping and sampling of pegmatites at Haystack Well within its Russian Jack project to identify the source of the high-value lithium in soils.

Tambourah Metals’ (ASX:TMB) Haystack Well prospect sits within the southwest corner of the Russian Jack project, which includes six exploration licences totalling 600km2 in WA’s Pilbara region.

Anomalous LCT trends were identified in a previous soil geochemical program at the Haystack Well prospect with most samples returning over 150ppm lithium while two samples recorded over 500ppm Li.

Field investigations recently confirmed the Haystack Well soil sampling locations are within 20m of several outcropping pegmatites and TMB is now looking to progress these targets to the drill testing phase.

Mapping and close spaced sampling to take place

The project contains indicators of localised lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites and extensive stacked pegmatite swarms over a 650m wide area which contain Tantalum, Beryl, Corundum and Kunzite (Lithium oxide).

Within this pegmatite halo, TMB says there are also historical lithium soil anomalies that peak up to 589ppm Li within 1.5km of strike.

The company explains this anomaly is open in all directions and is within the 10km ‘Goldilocks Zone’ from the presumed granite source.

The soil anomalies equate to ~2.9km of contact strike-length, with the remaining ~20km that remain to be adequately sampled.

TMB intends to complete mapping and close spaced sampling over the forthcoming weeks to confirm drill target locations based on the historical reports.

The explorer also recently completed an ethnographic survey at Haystack Well.

 

A drone survey to highlight untested pegmatites

TMB executive chair Rita Brooks says the company is pleased to begin ground activities at Haystack Well.

“Our geologists have planned a program of mapping and sampling of the pegmatites in the three locations with lithium values above 150-500 ppm Li,” she says.

“A drone survey is planned to highlight a number of untested pegmatites within the area, and we hope to identify the source of the high-value lithium in soils in our current exploration program.”

 

Shaw River and Tambourah North projects

At the Shaw River and Tambourah Nth Lithium exploration projects, TMB has completed first pass RC drilling of pegmatites.

The samples are currently at the laboratory and the company is awaiting the results.

Current mapping and sampling programs at Shaw River have recorded extensive pegmatites up to 300m away from the historical workings and a drone survey is planned to refine the extent of these pegmatite outcrops.

 

What’s next?

TMB has applied for two exploration licences in the Mt Day region to develop lithium exploration projects in the emerging Lake Johnson province, south of the Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) and Flynn Gold tenement holding.

Regional data compilation has kicked off and ground activities will follow upon the grant of the exploration licences.

Several pegmatite targets have been noted in the historical data compilation within the project area.
