Out of 91 new holes, 29 have recorded significant uranium pXRF readings in saprolite samples

An upgrade to the resource is expected to take place by the end of June
Special report: Building on the success of the recent RC drilling campaign, auger drilling has hit high uranium concentrations in the northernmost part of the Sanela prospect, confirming a new discovery could be on the cards.
Continuous sampling over Haranga Resources’ (ASX:HAR) Saraya permit in Senegal Africa has so far proven to be a cost-effective method of exploration across the company’s 1,650km2 of prospective ground.
Previous infill termite mound sampling – followed up by auger drilling – successfully identified several anomalies outside the current contained inferred resource of 16.1 million pounds (Mlb) U3O8 grading 587 parts per million (ppm).
Termites dig deep into the earth to build their nest and most – if not all – of the evacuated material is brought to the surface to construct the massive mounds that sit above them.
Exploration strategy reaps positive results
As part of HAR’s exploration strategy, 91 new auger holes have been drilled and assayed at the Sanela prospect, with 29 recording significant pXRF readings in saprolite samples – returning concentrations ranging from 14ppm to 81ppm.
Portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) technology is a real time sampling tool typically used to identify areas of promise.
While it is no replacement for laboratory assaying, it is nonetheless a valuable tool for helping with exploration decisions.
The explorer’s auger drilling is designed to trace the contact between Saraya granite, associated graphic pegmatites, and sheared sediments while following up on termite mound anomalism highlighted during earlier infill sampling.
Earlier results include significant finds such as 8m at 351ppm U3O8 from 35m and a high-grade section of 3m at 583ppm U3O8.
First of 10 termite anomalies
“These positive results are a further indication of Saraya’s immense prospectivity,” HAR managing director Peter Batten says.
“The auger program is proving its viability, locating uranium anomalous weathered bedrock below the blanketing laterite within the wider surface expression provided by our hard-working insects, the termites.
“Sanela is the first of the remaining 10 termite anomalies to be subjected to intense auger coverage and we are excited by the possibilities for further deposits within our portfolio of prospects.”
Looking ahead
RC drill assays, metallurgical results and an upgrade to the mineral resource is expected shortly.
Once drill results have been received, HAR plans to release the resource upgrade by the end of June.
Auger drilling, termite mound regional and infill sampling remain on-going.
