Special Report: Fin Resources is six diamond holes deep into a program to test the size of the White Bear spodumene-bearing pegmatite at the Cancet West lithium project in Quebec.

Cancet West is in a great neighbourhood, just 45km from Winsome Resources’ (WR1:ASX) Cancet project and 100km from Patriot Battery Metals’ (PMT:ASX) huge Corvette lithium deposits.

Fin Resources (ASX:FIN) discovered the exciting White Bear pegmatite last year. Subsequent sampling ticked all the right boxes, including high grades of Li2O and pathfinder elements, along with low potassium-to-rubidium (K/Rb) ratios and elevated caesium (Cs).

Low K/Rb ratios are a significant sign of potentially highly-fractionated lithium-bearing pegmatites.

Drilling into White Bear

This shallow dipping, 275m long (and counting) pegmatite is now the focus of the maiden diamond drilling program.

FIN has already completed six holes for 794m as part of the diamond drilling campaign at the prospect, with 4 of those intersecting large spodumene crystals (these can grade 5-7% lithium).

Geologists are on site using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) to rapidly analyse the samples and confirm the presence of lithium and other relevant elements. Drilling continues, with proper lab assays expected in 4-6 weeks from first holes drilled.

The White Bear prospect remains open along strike to the northeast and southwest and down-dip to the northwest.

Meanwhile, a major structure which appears to bound the White Bear pegmatite also lies to the east of a large pegmatite outcrop to the southwest.

“The extent of pegmatite occurrences identified so far are restricted only by the work conducted to date,” the company says.

“Further exploration work, once the diamond drilling program has been completed, is required to determine the potential for the pegmatites, identified so far, to extend along strike and at depth, as well as for additional pegmatites to the west.

“Regionally, the project area holds good potential for the discovery of additional lithium bearing pegmatites.”
