James Bay Minerals has generated a pipeline of 340 targets requiring immediate follow up at La Grande
The La Grande project is the largest holding along the premium La Grande lithium trend, which extends into PMT’s Corvette property
A summer field exploration program is set to begin within the next few weeks
Special report: Desktop studies at James Bay Minerals’ La Grande project in Quebec have identified 340 targets possibly linked to pegmatite outcrops, prompting further investigation.
James Bay Minerals (ASX:JBY) acquired the La Grande East project at the end of March, taking its critical minerals footprint in Canada’s prolific James Bay region to a hefty 371.68km2.
The explorer now holds one of the largest land positions along the La Grande greenstone belt and the largest holding along the premium La Grande lithium trend.
The project includes the Joule, Aero and Aqua properties, and is complimented by the Trollus landholding to the south, leaving the company with plenty of room for discovery.
It sits within a magnetic low that trends into the same corridor as Patriot Battery Metals’ (ASX:PMT) Corvette discovery with the Transtaiga Highway less than 1km to the north and several walk-up exploration targets scattered throughout the site.
340 targets displaying key ingredients for LCT pegmatites
JBY has now identified a further 340 high-priority targets via desktop studies which focused on magnetic lows (prospective zones) trending from east to west within the property.
Satellite imagery was then overlaid across the prospective zones focused on identifying white outcrops, which can correlate with pegmatite outcrops.

In fact, all the properties boast three key ingredients required to host massive lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites including neo-archaean rocks, placement along major regional faults, and within greenstone belts in proximity to granites.
Mobilisation of summer field program to kick off shortly
A summer field exploration program has been planned to gain a better understanding of all key areas identified via airborne surveys, data generated from neighbouring properties and desktop studies completed since listing in September 2023.
“Our focus is on ensuring that we target low-hanging fruit across all areas of the La Grande project, which will ensure that we deploy capital efficiently on well-established targets,” JBY executive director Andrew Dornan says.
Mobilisation is due to start within the next four weeks.
