Anson Resources intersects high-grade zinc, lead and silver at the Ajana project
Drilling indicates potential for mineralisation to continue at two main prospects
Upcoming infill and extensional drilling will seek to define maiden resources
Special Report: Drilling has intersected high-grade zinc, lead and silver – validating the exploration approach Anson Resources is taking at its Ajana project in WA’s Mid-West.
While Anson Resources (ASX:ASN) is primarily focused on developing a lithium brines operation in Utah, the drill results underscore its belief that Ajana is a significant exploration opportunity within a proven and established mining province for lead, silver, and zinc.
Ajana is 130km north of Geraldton and dominated by the Northampton Metamorphic Complex. It contains several historical copper, lead and silver producing mines dating back to 1850.
The maiden reverse circulation drill program – results for which have just been received – targeted the Surprise prospect that hosts the historical mines which produced high-grade, vein-hosted lead-zinc-silver throughout the late 1800s to early 1900.
Drilling also targeted the Ethel Maude prospect which has a history of hosting high-grade zinc-lead-silver mineralisation.

More drilling to follow high-grade hits
This 30-hole drill program totalling 1,105m has now delivered high-grade results with drilling at Surprise returning a top intersection of 12m @ 3% zinc, 1% lead and 1.75g/t silver in hole AJRC18.
ASN notes the results at Surprise indicate strong potential for further mineralisation towards the east and west, and extending towards Surprise South.
Drilling at Ethel Maude focused on shallow, high-grade zinc, lead and silver mineralisation with hole AJRC16 returning a 20m intersection @ 0.8% zinc, 0.71% lead and 5.75g/t silver.
The drilling at this prospect indicates potential for further development of the mineralised zone towards the east, south and at depth underneath the current workings.
Forward plan
ASN now plans to submit 1m samples for assay of anomalous mineralisation detected in 3m composites.
It will also carry out a second phase of infill and expansion drilling at the two prospects with the goal of defining a maiden resource.
Other work includes refining and upgrading exploration target models and geological knowledge throughout the Ajana project, as well as a third phase RC drilling at the Two Boys, Surprise South and Block 1 prospects to define the extent of base metal mineralisation across the wider project area.
