Heritage surveys finalised and maiden 2000m drill program to commence at Intra Energy’s Maggie Hays Hill project at Lake Johnston

Special Report: A crucial heritage survey has been completed at Maggie Hays Hill and Intra Energy has already started clearing tracks and drill pads in preparation for a 2000m RC drilling program at the lithium project.

Down the road from the long-standing Maggie Hays nickel mine currently owned by Poseidon Nickel (ASX:POS), Intra Energy’s (ASX:IEC) Maggie Hays lithium project consists of a north-north-west trending, extensively faulted geology of mafic and ultramafic rocks prospective for lithium, nickel and gold.

The critical minerals explorer’s landholding at Lake Johnston is near TG Metals’ (ASX:TG6) Burmeister and Charger Metals’ (ASX:CHR) Medcalf discoveries, with the latter recently inking a deal for Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) to farm in to the project.

TG Metals’ Burmeister discovery demonstrated Lake Johnston could be the next underexplored lithium hotspot in WA, following in the footsteps of the Pilbara and Eastern Goldfields.

Lake Johnston was briefly the subject as well of plans by MinRes to develop a third party lithium processing plant, demonstrating the region’s potential if discoveries are made at projects like Intra Energy’s Maggie Hays Hill and when spodumene prices head into a new bull run.

Acquisition fast-tracked to drilling

It’s taken just five months for IEC to explore, obtain approvals and get the drill bit ready to spin at Maggie Hay Hill.

The maiden drill program will focus primarily on the southern pegmatite lithium target – a notable soil and outcrop anomaly with similarities to Burmeister.

Drilling will initially consist of 13 holes across 1300m, testing multiple outcropping pegmatites for spodumene mineralisation.

The balance of the drilling program (710m) will test multiple gold targets (quartz reefs) in two locations, aimed at discovering spodumene and/or gold deposits.

“The company has advanced the Maggie Hays Hill project from acquisition to drilling in just five months having conducted multiple soil geochemical surveys, rock sampling, mapping, high resolution magnetic/topography surveys and a heritage clearance,” IEC MD Ben Dunn says

“The exploration has identified a suite of highly prospective LCT pegmatite spodumene targets along a 2500m zone that will be drill tested in a matter of weeks.

“In addition, exploration also identified multiple quartz reefs with rock chip grades up to 17.8g/t gold that will also be tested during this drill campaign.

“The company is looking forward to commencing drilling and will keep investors fully appraised as drilling progresses.”
