DY6 Metals to start sampling at the Ngala Hill PGE-copper-nickel project
Three zones of mineralisation previously identified from historical exploration
Ground activities to initially prioritise targets delineated by previous explorers
Special Report: DY6 Metals is preparing to start targeted reconnaissance sampling at its Ngala Hill PGE-copper-nickel project in southern Malawi.
Ngala Hill is a 2.4km by 0.7km magmatic intrusion that is characterised by an intrusive ultramafic suite of pyroxenites and hornblende-pyroxenites that intrude basement gneisses.
Initial work at Ngala Hill in the late 1960s included geochemical sampling programs undertaken by the British and Malawian Geological Surveys.
Exploration for PGEs by Phelps Dodge in 1999 included about 600m of trenching that returned 64m at 1.41g/t PGE and 1,430 parts per million copper.
Trenching by Placer Dome confirmed further anomalies with encouraging results such as 12m at 3g/t PGE and 70m at 1.12g/t PGE.
DY6 Metals (ASX:DY6) noted aeromagnetic data shows a significant magnetic high, which extends for several kilometres beyond the outcrop, associated with the zone of mineralisation.
Additionally, three zones of palladium rich PGE-copper mineralisation have been identified from historical trenching and limited drilling carried out by previous operators.
This is the Main Zone that strikes parallel to the main spine of Ngala Hill for about 2km, the Massive Sulphide Zone comprising laminated, outcropping 10cm thick massive sulphide band with associated quartz breccias and the Western Sill, which is potentially mineralised at a similar topographic level to the Main Zone.
The project is also close to the Nacala rail/port corridor and grid power, which will allow it to benefit from access to supporting infrastructure with a pit to port solution for exporting products to global markets.

Mineralisation expansion targeted
DY6 plans to carry out a rock chip and soil sampling program to follow up on and validate known high-grade areas as well as expanding the zone of mineralisation.
It added the first stage of community consultation is underway which will allow support logistics to be planned and costed with more certainty.
Ground activities are expected to commence in early Q3, initially prioritising targets by previous explorers covered by the ultramafic intrusion.
