Intersections including 13m at 2.16g/t show potential for 1.5km mineralised strike at Great Southern Mining’s Duketon project
Targeted exploration is discovering mineralisation creeping towards Regis Resources’ 390k oz Ben Hur gold deposit
Upcoming work to target the Southern Star, Golden Boulder and Amy Clarke prospects
Special Report: New high-grade gold up to 4.33g/t has been intersected at Great Southern Mining’s Southern Star prospect, part of its Duketon Gold project in Western Australia.
Step out drilling at Great Southern Mining’s (ASX:GSN) Southern Star prospect has extended mineralisation up to 65m down dip and opened up the possibility of repeats over a 1.5km stretch, up to the border of Regis Resources’ (ASX:RRL) ground. Noting that RRLs 390,000oz Ben Hur gold deposit lies just 1.3km from the tenement boundary.

Potential repeat of Ben Hur
These recent assay results from a targeted 3,155m RC drilling program have extended the mineralisation which already has a 700m strike to a depth of ~160m below surface.
A limited number of wide-spaced holes were also drilled to the north of the main zone of mineralisation, targeting structural offsets and surface geochemical anomalies.
The northern-most line of holes included a shallow intercept of 13m @ 2.16g/t gold from 57m in hole 23SSRC010.
This hole is ~300m from the tenement boundary with RRL’s Ben Hur deposit to the north.
Depth extensions
Holes were also drilled below known mineralisation to test for depth extensions to the main zone of mineralisation, with best intercepts of:
2m @ 2.74g/t Au from 126m and 13m at 2.52g/t Au from 144m, including 4m at 6.91g/t Au in hole 23SSRC004; and
3m @ 1.93g/t Au from 76m and 9m at 3.66g/t Au from 159m, including 6m @ 4.63g/t Au in hole 23SSRC002.
Hole 23SSRC002 successfully pulled down the known mineralisation envelope by 65 metres, with the mineralised shear still visible in step-back hole 23SSRC003, a further 35 metres down plunge
GSN says the deeper intersects present the opportunity for further, deeper drilling in the hopes of intersecting more deep lodes containing gold.
According to GSN managing director Matthew Keane, the small but targeted drilling program tested depth extensions and distal targets to the main zone of gold mineralisation already defined at Southern Star.
“We are particularly excited about the new zones of mineralisation detected to the north because this opens the potential for gold mineralisation along a line of strike some 1.5km from Southern Star to the tenement boundary with Regis Resources,” he says.
“The company is poised for an exciting year of drilling at the Duketon project with high-grade drill intercepts to be followed up at the Southern Star, Golden Boulder and Amy Clarke prospects.”
GSN will now turn its focus toward further drilling at those prospects, with the aim to delineate an economic resource base within the project area.
