Special Report: Tambourah Metals has landed an early win at the Haystack Well prospect within its Russian Jack project in WA’s Pilbara region after first pass rock sampling returned up to 7,910ppm lithium.

Haystack Well is in the southwest corner of the Russian Jack project, which consists of six exploration licences totalling 600km2 that contain indicators of localised lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites and extensive stacked pegmatite swarms over a 650m wide area.

Tambourah Metals (ASX:TMB) notes that this pegmatite halo includes historical lithium soil anomalies peaking up to 589ppm lithium within 1.5km of strike.

This anomaly is open in all directions and within the 10km ‘Goldilocks Zone’ from the presumed granite source.

Previous soil geochemical programs at the prospect had identified anomalous LCT trends, with most samples returning over 150ppm lithium, while two samples recorded over 500ppm lithium.

Recent field investigations also confirmed that the Haystack Well soil sampling locations are within 20m of several outcropping pegmatites.

Rock sampling identifies Haystack Well anomalies

First-pass rock chip sampling of in-situ pegmatite, pegmatite float and biotite-rich reaction zones related to pegmatite margins at the newly acquired E46/1380 tenement has returned maximum lithium results of up to 7,910ppm lithium along with elevated caesium and tantalum.

TMB believes the combination of elevated lithium, caesium, tantalum and tin in rock samples as well as extensive historical soil geochemical lithium anomalies, confirms that Haystack Well is highly prospective for pegmatite hosted LCT mineralisation.

Additionally, this first-pass work will be used to define specific mapping and sampling locations to test the outcropping pegmatites and confirm the extent and orientation of any spodumene-bearing pegmatites within Haystack Well.

“We have made positive advances in understanding the lithium exploration potential of the Russian Jack and Haystack Well projects,” TMB executive chairperson Rita Brooks said.

“We are excited by the opportunities ahead for the company in 2024. TMB is well funded and has a clear strategy in place in relation to the continued development of the Pilbara lithium projects.”

 

Next steps

TMB plans to carry out systematic mapping and sampling of Haystack Well pegmatite intrusions from mid-February this year.

It will also compile and interpret recently received hyperspectral data over the Russian Jack project as it prepares to rapidly advance exploration.
