Ford Unveils Mustang GTD “Spirit of America” Special Edition
Ford Motor Company revealed a special edition of its $325,000 Mustang GTD, called the “Spirit of America,” on Thursday at the Detroit Auto Show. Paying homage to jet-propelled cars that shattered speed records in the 1960s, the high-performance vehicle features design elements inspired by Craig Breedlove, the legendary driver who broke the 500 mph and 600 mph barriers.
Design inspired by history
The Mustang GTD “Spirit of America” is painted white with bold red and blue racing stripes running down the center. The design mirrors the iconic overalls worn by Breedlove during his historic feats, connecting the modern Mustang to a legacy of American speed and innovation.
Ford declined to disclose pricing for this special-edition vehicle, which builds upon the already exclusive Mustang GTD.
