Nigel Broomham moves up from General Manager to CEO at Canadian lithium play Battery Age Minerals
Broomham has extensive leadership experience in lithium, notably with Pilbara Minerals
Phase 2 drilling to resume at Falcon Lake shortly
Special Report: Lithium guru Nigel Broomham has been promoted from general manager to the CEO’s chair at Battery Age Minerals, bringing a wealth of hard rock lithium exploration and development to the role.
Battery Age Minerals’ (ASX:BM8) Falcon Lake project is in one of the hottest lithium exploration addresses in Ontario, Canada and counts other explorers such as Rock Teck, Imagine Lithium, Ultra Lithium and Green Technology Metals’ (ASX:GT1) – with its 9.9Mt at 1.04% Li2O flagship Seymour Lake project – in its surrounds.
So far, Phase 2 drilling (10,000-20,000m) designed to test the pipeline of targets BM8 has developed outside known mineralisation at the Falcon Main prospect has returned standout hits such as 31.75m @ 1.45% Li2O from a down-hole depth of 14.46m and 27.6m @ 1.37% Li2O.
A proven team player at the helm
Broomham is a geologist with over 14 years’ industry experience, including more than 11 years in the battery metals sector and specifically in lithium.
BM8 says Broomham has been instrumental in the successful planning, development, management and execution of exploration programs across the company’s portfolio of battery metals assets.
He led the design and delivery of the maiden exploration and drilling programs at Falcon Lake, which were integral to the discovery of new zones of mineralisation.
Prior to joining BM8, Nigel held leadership roles with ASX-50 lithium producer Pilbara Minerals (ASX:PLS) in exploration, resource development and mining production.
As lead geologist at PLS, Broomham was extensively involved in the exploration and development of the world-class Pilgangoora project in WA, tasked with leading the geology team from exploration through to production.
Officially stepping into the hot seat
BM8 chair Robert Martin says Broomham brings strong leadership skills, a tremendous work ethic and the ability to build and lead the execution of complex exploration programs across multiple jurisdictions.
“Nigel is a highly skilled geologist and a proven team player, and we have every confidence in his ability to lead the company forward to realise the full potential of our assets,” Martin says.
“We were grateful that he agreed to step in as interim CEO last November and we are extremely pleased that he has accepted the role of permanent CEO moving forward.”
