Adavale Resources keeping up the nickel exploration pace at Kabanga Jirani

Adavale Resources plans to carry out a deep penetrating ground EM survey and potential follow-up drill testing at HEM 4
A sixth diamond hole at Luhuma Central will also be completed
Coincident geochemical and geophysical anomaly at HEM 2E to be tested, along with historical massive sulphide intersections

Special Report: Adavale Resources has sketched out exploration plans for its Kabanga Jirani nickel project, with plans to follow up on work carried out in 2023 while testing a wealth of regional targets generated by previous geophysical surveys.

The Kabanga Jirani project in Tanzania sits along strike from BHP’s (ASX:BHP) Tier 1 58Mt Kabanga deposit, one of the largest undeveloped nickel sulphide projects in the world that is currently the subject of a 30-year, 65,000tpa nickel equivalent development.

Given this level of prospectivity, it is unsurprising that Adavale Resources (ASX:ADD) diligently carried out extensive exploration in 2023 to increase its understanding of its own project, with a focus on Luhuma Central.

All holes drilled to their planned depth at Luhuma Central intersected massive nickel sulphide mineralisation that remains open down-dip within an electromagnetic anomaly, with a strike of 700m.

Drilling was also carried out at the HEM 4 target where six of the nine reverse circulation holes confirmed coincident soil and geophysical anomalies are associated with prospective mafic rock types, including ultramafic in one of the drill holes.

Other work included soil geochemistry targeting historical BHP airborne magnetic and EM anomalies to determine possible extensions to the soil anomalies identified from the first phase of sampling.

Exploration being mapped out

ADD is currently evaluating an extensive exploration program it intends to carry out in 2024.

This includes detailed, deep penetrating ground EM at HEM 4 and potential follow-up drill testing along with completion of DDLUHC006 – the sixth diamond hole – at Luhuma Central.

It also plans to test a coincident geochemical and geophysical anomaly at HEM 2E, follow-up evaluation of historical massive sulphide intersections at HEM 2NE and prioritise new targets for testing from its extensive regional geophysical and geochemical data sets.

Further work will also be considered.

“The company looks forward to 2024 where our initial focus will be at Luhuma Central, HEM 4, as well as other potential targets at HEM 2E and HEM2 NE,” ADD executive director David Riekie said.

“Longer term, the company is keen to begin work on the multitude of other target areas identified by our regional geophysical surveys completed in 2022 and 2023.”
