DMS test work results ‘on par’ with some of the world’s best hard rock lithium projects, Green Technology Metals says

Dense Media Separation (DMS) test work confirms ability to achieve up to 6.8% Li2O concentrate and 71.6% recovery rates from Seymour
Results affirm heavy liquid separation (HLS) test from earlier in the year
Strong support now for a DMS modularised processing facility and will be incorporated into preliminary project assessments

Special Report: Dense Media Separation (DMS) testwork at Green Technology Metals’ Seymour lithium project in Ontario has reaffirmed HLS tests from earlier this year that a modularised DMS circuit is the way to go for processing spodumene concentrate.

The ability for a miner to process its lithium via DMS is an important one for investors, as it simplifies the permitting process and does not require floatation reagents and chemicals – minimising operations risk and lowering production costs.

Good news for Green Technology Metals’ (ASX:GT1), which is getting great results from testing at the Seymour project, a key part of its plan for a vertically integrated lithium business.

In a staged strategy, GT1 is looking to become Ontario’s first battery-grade lithium producer from a current resource of 24.5Mt @ 1.14% Li2O across its Seymour and Root Bay projects. It also has claims on several other properties across the province.

‘Outstanding’ DMS testwork results

Results from test work now reveal that a modularised DMS circuit can produce up to 6.8% Li2O at high recovery rates of 71.6% from Seymour’s North Aubry spodumene deposit.

It also has low deleterious iron (Fe2O3) grades of <0.65%.

GT1 says this surpasses current market standards of 5.5% Li2O and <1.2% Fe2O3 and reaffirms previous heavy liquid separation (HLS) tests performed at the project.

GT1 MD Luke Cox says the results will form valuable inputs into its upcoming preliminary economic assessment (PEA) and subsequent feasibility study.

“The results from this DMS test work are impressive and hold great significance,” he says.

“The outstanding recovery rates and high grades achieved in this phase are on par with some of the world’s leading hard rock spodumene lithium projects.”
