Pilot plant crucial to deliver metallurgical results for Bau gold field feasibility studies
Besra has an up to US$300m gold purchase agreement with Quantum

Special Report: Construction of Besra Gold’s Jugan pilot plant — crucial to development of this ~960koz Resource gold field in Malaysia – are a step closer after vital land access approval was received for an associated tailings dam.

The Jugan pilot plant is part of Besra Gold’s (ASX:BEZ) flagship Bau Corridor gold project, which has additional exploration target ranging from 4.9Moz to 9.3Moz.

The company inked a transformational US$300m funding facility and gold purchase agreement from its number one shareholder Quantum Metal Recovery in June last year.

This cash – to be paid over 30 months against future production ounces — would (if all instalments are received) cover development of Bau in Malaysia’s Sarawak region.

With US$25,646,326 already received, BEZ’ main game in 2024 is commissioning of the pilot plant and updating the 2013 Bau feasibility study.

No more delays for Jugan pilot plant

Besra Gold has received vital long-term access to an essential piece of land required for its Jugan pilot plant’s tailings dam.

The Jugan pilot plant for Bau is designed to study the metallurgical processing of ore for Bau and has been designed to process 50 tonnes per day (tpd). It has the required licensing and capability to increase the processing throughput to up to 200tpd.

It’s now able to submit regulatory paperwork for approval and once signed off, construction and operation of the plant can begin.

Jugan is critical to delivering metallurgical results for a definitive feasibility study (DFS) that will incorporate smart mining protocols and include a full revision of the existing DFS which was completed back in 2013.

While they’ve been waiting, the Besra team has moved construction material for the processing plant to a nearby site  ready for deployment.

During the feasibility period, Besra also plans to investigate the processing of historical tailings that contain an estimated 100,000oz, with gold grades ranging from 1-1.5g/t gold.
