Special Report: Exploration drilling has kicked off at the Fraser Lake Complex (FLC) within its highly prospective Lynn Lake nickel-copper-cobalt project in Manitoba, Canada, to suss out three high-priority targets within an identified 6km x 3km magmatic sulphide system.

Fresh on the back of inking a deal with Future Battery Minerals (ASX:FBM) for the lithium rights of its Miriam project in the WA Goldfields for up to $9.5m, Corazon Mining (ASX:CZN) has kicked off the next stage of exploration at Lynn Lake and the conductive anomalies of MTC-1, MTC-2 and MTC-3.

The drill plan

MTC-1 is Corazon’s first port of call and drilling is testing various features of the geophysical anomaly which potentially represents sulphide mineralisation.

Two diamond core holes are underway at MTC-1 and are targeting the core of the ‘Matrix Trend’, which the company reckons could host low-grade nickel-copper-cobalt in sulphides across an extensive area similar to the historic Lynn Lake Mining Centre.

Lynn Lake produced 206,200t Ni and 107,600 Cu over 24 years up until 1976 when it was closed due to extensive cover and swampy terrain making extensions uneconomical.

Fast forward to today and technological advances could give it a new lease on life. Corazon has successfully used several new and innovative geophysical techniques and is targeting the Fraser lake Complex within Lynn Lake.

These include the recently completed 3D IP+MT geophysical survey, utilising Quantec Geoscience’s powerful Orion 3D DCIP and MT Deep Imaging system.

The survey methods, Corazon says, were successful in identifying intrusion-hosted magmatic nickel-copper sulphide and multiple untested anomalies.

“High-priority targets include previously undetected “pipe-like” anomalies, exhibiting high-value nickel in surface geochemistry and are located immediately adjacent to extensive drill-defined low-grade mineralisation,” the company says.

Follow-up drilling is planned after drilling wraps up in April.
