Sampling at Recharge’s Wapistan lithium project confirms presence of highly fractionated LCT pegmatites
Wapistan West runs parallel to two highly prospective projects in Canada’s James Bay lithium district
2024 field season to focus on ~8km of unexplored greenstone belt at Wapistan West
Special Report: Targeting is under way for a 2024 field program at Recharge Metals’ Wapistan project in the prolific James Bay lithium district in Québec, Canada.
Recharge Metals (ASX:REC) reports sampling results from the Wapistan West prospect confirmed the presence of highly-fractionated LCT pegmatites with potential to host lithium mineralisation.
Preparations are now being made for a helicopter-supported exploration program to test >8km of prospective greenstone lithologies at Wapistan West which could not be accessed during the restricted 2023 field season.
Dahrouge Capital – part of DG Resource Management which vended REC’s Express and Patriot Battery Metals’ (ASX:PMT) Corvette lithium projects – mapped 5km of the 13km greenstone belt in the Wapistan West claim block.
Sampling has shown geochemical signatures associated with LCT pegmatites and evidence of fractionation, and will allow the 2024 field work to concentrate on the most prospective areas.
Analysis of targets will be completed using recent LiDAR survey data to identify potential pegmatite outcrops not previously detected.

Wapistan West is proximal to Q2 Metals’ Mia and Ophir Gold’s Radis lithium projects where spodumene-hosted lithium occurrences presented at both surface and in drilling.
REC managing director Felicity Repacholi says the recent field campaign was encouraging and outlined prospective areas to explore, particularly within Wapistan West.
“Results from the sampling within Wapistan West show evidence of fractionation with 8km of the greenstone belt remaining unexplored,” she says.
“The team is currently interpreting the imagery from the LiDAR survey, focusing on the greenstone belt with field work planned to recommence in the Canadian summer.”
This year’s field work will now concentrate on the remaining ~8km of the 13km greenstone belt contained within Wapistan West, with systematic mapping and sampling to be conducted first.
Targets identified by Dahrouge Geological will be added to those identified in historical mapping. Field work based off that is anticipated to start in July.
