James Bay Minerals begins summer lithium drive at Aqua

James Bay Minerals 2024 targeted summer field program continues at the highly prospective Aqua lithium property in James Bay, Quebec
High-priority targets are emerging ~200m east of Fin Resources (ASX:FIN)

Special Report: Alongside exploration efforts at the flagship Joule property, James Bay Minerals has started field work activities on its Aqua asset in Canada’s prolific James Bay region.

James Bay Minerals’ (ASX:JBY) Aqua property is within the larger La Grande project, a landholding of 573 claims and a total of three properties, the other two being Joule and Aero.

The properties reside in the La Grande sub-province along-trend from Patriot Battery Minerals (ASX:PMT) massive Corvette deposit.

Aqua itself covers 144km2 with regional faults, which host the La Grande Greenstones, traversing the property from east to west.

A deformation zone over a strike length of 6km is considered prospective for LCT pegmatites with Fin Resources (ASX:FIN) uncovering a significant lithium showing about  200m from the north-western border of JBY’s property.

In conjunction with exploration partner, Breakaway Exploration, JBY has been planning a targeted field program across Aqua including field mapping and rock chip and channel sampling to gain a clearer geological understanding of the site and its potential to host lithium pegmatites.

Field activities kick off

JBY has now started its 2024 summer field program at Aqua.

The company says access lines will be cut across the property to facilitate ATV mobility and a helicopter contractor has been enlisted to efficiently transport personnel between targets, enabling the exploration team to cover a greater number of areas in less time.

“Commencing exploration activities across high-priority LCT Pegmatites at the Aqua property marks another step forward for our company, reflecting our commitment to unlocking new opportunities in parallel with our ongoing efforts at the Joule property,” executive director Andrew Dornan says.

“This growing exploration momentum will position the company to tap into the potential of these promising geological settings, aiming to uncover significant drill-ready targets.”
