Special Report: Intercontinental gold hunter Strickland Metals has hit thick gold mineralisation at the Medenovac prospect, part of its newly purchased 5.4Moz Rogozna project in Serbia.

Strickland Metals (ASX:STK) has a strong cash position from the $61m sale of its Millrose gold project in WA to Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST) and is proving up the nearby Yandal project, where it’s pulling in impressive exploration results.

It has since doubled its exploration efforts after entering a binding agreement to purchase the Rogozna gold and base metals project for $37m in a primarily escrowed scrip deal.

The 184km2 Rogozna project comes with $60m worth of exploration spending already and has walk-up targets from previous drilling to assess, where best assays returned 352m at 2.1g/t gold equivalent from 240m, including 97.7m at 5.1g/t from 321m.

First results from Rogozna

10,000m of drilling is planned at the Medenovac prospect, part of an overall planned 60,000m drill blitz at Rogozna.

Assays from two drill holes at Medenovac have hit multiple thick zones of gold, copper, zinc and silver.

Multiple thick zones of gold-copper-zinc-silver mineralisation have been intersected in hole ZRSD24148, returning 128.5m at 1.4g/t gold equivalent from 298m, including 40.1m at 1.9g/t.

It’s a down-dip extension of the mineralisation encountered in ZRSD21136, which intersected a phenomenal 352.1m at 2.1g/t gold equivalent, including 97.7m at 5.1g/t from 240m noted in drilling campaigns conducted in 2020-21.

STK reckons hole ZRSD24147 has even further significance, intersecting 63.4m at 1.3g/t gold equivalent from 244.2m including 14m at 2.8g/t and 86m at 1g/t from 418m.

The hole was drilled to ~150m to the northwest of the discovery zone representing, STK says, a sizeable strike extension of the polymetallic skarn-hosted mineralisation.

Four drill rigs to spin at Rogozna

Exploration continues to ramp up at Rogozna, with two rigs currently drilling at the ~4.6Moz gold equivalent Shanac deposit, while a third rig has arrived this week and commenced drilling at the Medenovac prospect at Rogozna.

“We are extremely pleased to return such positive numbers from our first results at Rogozna,” STK chair Anthony McClure says.

“Further drilling at Medenovac is underway, with ~10,000m planned to systematically test the prospective skarn volume and demonstrate the controls and geometry of the higher-grade zones of mineralisation in preparation for a maiden mineral resource estimate.

“Drilling is also continuing to proceed well at Shanac, with two rigs currently focusing on the core of that deposit.

“A fourth diamond rig is scheduled to arrive on site by the end of June, with that rig dedicated to testing the extensive target pipeline, including multiple compelling Copper-Gold porphyry targets.”
