{"id":9906,"date":"2024-05-21T02:27:17","date_gmt":"2024-05-21T02:27:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=9906"},"modified":"2024-05-21T02:27:17","modified_gmt":"2024-05-21T02:27:17","slug":"american-wests-2024-drilling-heats-up-with-thick-new-copper-zones-outlined-at-storm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=9906","title":{"rendered":"American West\u2019s 2024 drilling heats up with thick, new copper zones outlined at Storm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>American West intersects new copper zones at Storm <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Results continue to demonstrate the strong correlation between Moving Loop Electromagnetic (MLEM) targets and copper mineralisation <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Samples for the first batch of drilling are at the laboratory with assay results expected in the coming weeks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Special report: A drilling campaign across geophysical targets at American West\u2019s <\/strong>17.5Mt <strong>Storm copper project has highlighted the potential for rapid resource expansion after new zones of copper mineralisation were intersected. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Storm\u2019 trooper <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/american-west-metals-aw1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American West Metals (ASX:AW1)<\/a> is on a mission to prove up its resource base at the 17.5Mt copper silver project in Nunavut, Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The Storm asset currently contains four deposits with plenty of room to grow given the resource covers just 5% of the project area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><em>Recent and existing drill hole locations, copper deposit outlines and overlaying aerial photography. Pic: American West Metals <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s drilling program has built on last year\u2019s successful program with the expansion of the large-scale copper footprint at the Cyclone deposit and with new zones of thick near-surface copper mineralisation intersected at the Gap prospect.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, drilling was designed to test a number of existing resource and geophysical targets, working in parallel with the Moving Loop EM (MLEM) survey as it identified new resource expansion and exploration targets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Latest drilling results <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>AW1 has now intersected thick, new zones of copper mineralisation with results including:<\/p>\n<p>6m of copper sulphides from 79.3m (Cyclone North);<br \/>\n2m of copper sulphides, including a 10m interval of strong visual copper sulphides from 36.6m (the Gap prospect); and<br \/>\n5m of copper mineralisation from 29m, also at the Gap prospect.<\/p>\n<p>Phase 1 of the high-powered Moving Loop EM (MLEM) survey has been completed in the Storm area, with over 10 new targets defined for high-priority drill testing.<\/p>\n<p>Now Phase 2 of the survey is underway, which involves searching deeper below the known copper deposits where drilling has previously intersected a prospective copper horizon that spans over 5km2 with copper grades up to 2.7%.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Searching for deposits similar to Central African copper belts <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe next phase of the survey will search deeper, below the known copper deposits for a repeat of the Cyclone style mineralisation at depth, and potential for the discovery of sedimentary copper deposits of similar style to the major Central African copper belts,\u201d AW1 managing director Dave O\u2019Neill says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to reporting more news from Storm in the coming weeks, including additional drilling and geophysics updates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with American West Metals, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
