Good morning everyone, and welcome to 16 May, 2024 \u2013 an important day in history of creepy German science nerds.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because it was this day in 1571 that German astronomer Johannes Kepler figured out, mathematically, was the day he was conceived.<\/p>\n

Kepler, for some reason known only to him and a few of his weird science buddies who may or may not have shared a very specific kink, crunched the numbers and worked out that his dad Heinrich Kepler was ploughing his wife, one Katharina Guldenmann, on this day at the oddly specific time of 4:37am.<\/p>\n

Yes, it\u2019s an odd thing to spend more than a frantic few seconds considering the horrific mental image of his parents making the beast with at least two backs, and I do apologise for the fact that you\u2019re probably, even as you read this, now picturing your own parents doing the same.<\/p>\n

You are welcome.<\/p>\n

Anyway, it was quite a notable achievement at the time \u2013 I\u2019m actually just assuming that because it\u2019s a super-weird thing to have figured out, and should have been something lost to the mists of time considering the extraordinary amount of other amazing things Kepler used his mighty brain to figure out.<\/p>\n

That includes his penning of the first three Laws of Planetary Motion, which state:<\/p>\n

The orbit of a planet is an ellipse with the Sun at one of the two foci.
\nA line segment joining a planet and the Sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time.
\nThe square of a planet\u2019s orbital period is proportional to the cube of the length of the semi-major axis of its orbit.<\/p>\n

He also invented a bunch of stuff, successfully defended his mother and kept her from being executed when she was accused of being a witch and \u2013\u00a0to the delight of every Star Trek<\/em> and Star Wars<\/em> fan alike\u00a0\u2013\u00a0single-handedly invented the genre of Science Fiction.<\/p>\n

Kepler published a story in 1609 called Somnium (or The Dream) that, while fictional in nature, relied heavily on practical scientific theory as a device to power the narrative.<\/p>\n

Yet here we are, celebrating him for figuring out what night his old man boned his missus.<\/p>\n

What a time to be alive.<\/p>\n

Luckily for you, you won\u2019t need to do complex maths to figure out when your own parents were wrestling in the back seat of your dad\u2019s Torana, in a rather bizarre attempt to get access to the important information of today.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because Christian\u2019s been busy trying to predict what\u2019s going to happen now that the US has dropped its latest CPI report<\/a>, and Nadine\u2019s put pen to paper to find out how private credit has become a rapidly growing alternative asset class.<\/p>\n

Yesterday\u2019s Small Cap Winners included:<\/h2>\n

Market newbie Sun Silver (ASX:SS1)<\/a> hit the ground sprinting on Wednesday morning, arriving on the ASX with a monstrous bang and climbing +125% at the close. The company owns the Maverick Springs silver project in Elko County, Nevada, which boasts an inferred mineral resource of 292Moz AgEq at 72.4g\/t Ag.<\/p>\n

Castillo Copper (ASX:CCZ)<\/a> was also trading higher again this morning, building on the week\u2019s early success \u2013 and cracking the $0.01 per share bracket for the first time since August last year \u2013 after the company delivered an investor prezzo in London.<\/p>\n

The Calmer Co International (ASX:CCO)<\/a> was up sharply after revealing that Aussies are going bananas for the smooth, natural sedation of kava.<\/p>\n

CCO announced that sales of its products through Coles supermarkets are booming, exceeding $150k over the initial launch period and running at over $30k per week \u2013 that\u2019s more than 4600 units per week \u2013 in week 8 after launch while online sales are also moving sharply, and currently exceed $11,000 per day.<\/p>\n

Australian Gold and Copper (ASX:AGC)<\/a> was bursting up today on\u2026 that\u2019s right, you guessed it\u2026 silver. The company has announced it\u2019s drilled its way into some thick, super high grade metal at its Achilles target, which is part of the gold and polymetallic project dubbed Cargelligo, located in the Cobar mineral basin of NSW. The high grade silver action includes a highlight of 5m at 16.9g\/t gold, 1,473g\/t silver and 15% lead+zinc.<\/p>\n

Diverse minerals explorer, Cohiba Minerals (ASX:CHK)<\/a>, is back on the rise again after\u00a0 announcing yesterday that it\u2019s all set to change its name and ticker \u2013 to Altair Minerals (ASX:ALR), which will take effect from Friday. The company has actually had some other news of reasonable note in the past week, announcing a strategic review of the Olympic Domain project, which the company says \u201cadjoins one of the biggest IOCG discoveries\u201d, and where it has \u201cconfirmed strong prospectivity for IOCG mineralisation, which warrants further investigation\u201d.<\/p>\n

Emerging copper-gold explorer\/developer, Golden Deeps (ASX:GED)<\/a>, jumped after announcing that drilling is set to commence at the company\u2019s 100%-owned Havilah Project to test a series of priority porphyry\/volcanics hosted copper-gold targets. The company notes that an initial 6-10 reverse circulation and diamond holes (up to 2,500m) will be drilled to test large copper-gold sulphide targets associated with strong sub-surface Induced Polarisation (IP) geophysical anomalies.<\/p>\n

And.. Argenica Therapeutics (ASX:AGN)<\/a> says its drug ARG-007 significantly reduced damage to brain cells in a ferret animal model of mild to moderate traumatic brain injury (modTBI), a model that closely resembles the gross anatomy of the human brain. The observed therapeutic effects of ARG-007 in the modTBI model included a significant reduction in the accumulation of key proteins, and a significant reduction in the level of inflammation markers GFAP and Iba1.<\/p>\n
