{"id":9127,"date":"2024-05-03T03:09:37","date_gmt":"2024-05-03T03:09:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=9127"},"modified":"2024-05-03T03:09:37","modified_gmt":"2024-05-03T03:09:37","slug":"tesoro-advances-crucial-water-supply-options-for-developing-el-zorro-in-chiles-atacama-mining-province","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=9127","title":{"rendered":"Tesoro advances crucial water supply options for developing El Zorro in Chile\u2019s Atacama mining province"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MoU signed with Aguas CAP to advance water supply option for Tesoro Gold\u2019s El Zorro Project<br \/>\nAguas CAP desalination plant is 25km from the 1.3Moz Ternera Deposit<br \/>\nMaritime concession assessment with the Chilean Government nearing completion<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report<\/em><\/strong><strong>: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the advancement of crucial water supply to Tesoro Gold\u2019s El Zorro Project in Chile has been inked with Aguas CAP, which has a desalination plant ~25km away from the explorer\u2019s 1.3Moz Ternera Deposit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Securing water supply for projects in Chile\u2019s arid Atacama region is a pivotal step towards de-risking mine development.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/tesoro-gold-tso\/\"><strong>Tesoro Gold (ASX:TSO)<\/strong><\/a> is pushing forward with these infrastructure options after defining a 1.3Moz gold resource at its Ternera Deposit, part of the 570km2 El Zorro Project, where the company is still looking to expand its gold resources.<\/p>\n<p>Recent exploration work is focused on <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/tesoro-scores-with-compelling-gold-target-at-el-zorro-project\/\"><strong>proving up a prospective 20km-long gold corridor<\/strong><\/a> at five high-priority targets that are currently being drilled.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The El Zorro Project and the five targets across the identified gold corridor. Pic supplied: (TSO)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Water supply options<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Aguas CAP\u2019s desalination plant provides desalinated water treatment and supplies services to industrial customers in the Atacama region.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the desalination process, it produces wastewater (brine) which is currently discarded to the ocean \u2013 TSO is looking to see if it can find a way to turn that waste into a viable water source for El Zorro.<\/p>\n<p>The MoU with Aguas CAP establishes an understanding to jointly investigate the technical and economic feasibility for the supply of water and\/or brine and delivery to the Project.<\/p>\n<p>The two parties will start the development of a draft business plan which considers, key areas such as the construction of infrastructure, project funding, potential for future expansion and operating expenditure.<\/p>\n<p>The benefit to Aguas CAP is the ability of being able to dispose of post-desalination brine through an environmentally low-impact option.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, TSO is in the process of obtaining a maritime concession from the Chilean Government for accessing Punta Obispito\u2019s shoreline for seawater \u2013 providing a further water supply option.<\/p>\n<p>Additional environmental studies and permits are required before construction and the operation of a seawater pipeline from the maritime concession area can be approved, however, the granting of the concession will provide a nearby alternative option for the supply of water to El Zorro.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Regional infrastructure map in relation to the El Zorro Gold Project.
