{"id":8893,"date":"2024-04-29T06:46:43","date_gmt":"2024-04-29T06:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=8893"},"modified":"2024-04-29T06:46:43","modified_gmt":"2024-04-29T06:46:43","slug":"1000t-of-lce-on-the-books-as-galan-journeys-towards-phase-1-lithium-production-at-hmw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=8893","title":{"rendered":"1000t of LCE on the books as Galan journeys towards Phase 1 lithium production at HMW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>1000t of lithium concentrate in inventory at Galan\u2019s flagship HMW project in Argentina<br \/>\nPond\u2019s 1 and 2 continue evaporation, Pond 3 being filled, Pond 4 being constructed<br \/>\nPhase 1 33% complete and on track for full production in H1 2025<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report<\/em><\/strong><strong>: Pond evaporation at Galan Lithium\u2019s Hombre Muerto West (HMW) lithium-brine project in Argentina now has 1000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) in inventory as the company continues to ramp up to Phase 1 production of 5.4ktpa. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/galan-lithium-gln\/\"><strong>Galan Lithium\u2019s (ASX:GLN)<\/strong><\/a> flagship 7.9Mt LCE @ 883mg\/l Li HMW asset, in Argentina\u2019s slice of South America\u2019s Lithium Triangle, is on its way to full Phase 1 production.<\/p>\n<p>The area is also home to major lithium brine operations such as <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/arcadium-lithium-ltm\/\"><strong>Arcadium\u2019s (ASX:LTM)<\/strong><\/a> established El Fenix and Sal de Vida and Korean giant POSCO\u2019s Sal de Oro lithium projects.<\/p>\n<p>GLN has earmarked a <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/high-grades-big-profits-and-low-costs-phase-2-dfs-shows-galans-hmw-lithium-project-truly-worthy-of-tier-1-status\/\"><strong>four-phase development<\/strong><\/a> of its projects, starting with Phase 1 targeting 5400tpa, Phase 2 production of 21,000tpa LCE in 2026, 40,000tpa by 2028 for Phase 3 and 60,000tpa LCE for Phase 4 which will include its other brine project Candelas \u2013 taking that total up to 8.6Mt.<\/p>\n<p>It also recently signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/galan-just-got-the-government-agreement-it-needs-to-start-commercialising-its-argentinian-lithium\/\"><strong>landmark commercialisation agreement<\/strong><\/a> with the region\u2019s Catamarca Government to allow the sale of its concentrate to both domestic and international customers and facilitate Phase 2 construction permits.<\/p>\n<p>Galan\u2019s HMW and Candelas projects surrounding Arcadium and POSCO\u2019s operations. Pic supplied: (GLN)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Road to Phase 1 production<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Hitting the 1000t LCE mark is a significant milestone for GLN as it continues to fill its lithium brine ponds.<\/p>\n<p>Pond\u2019s 1 and 2 are already evaporating the lithium from the salty brines, while Pond 3 is filling up and Pond 4 earthworks have now commenced.<\/p>\n<p>GLN says the overall completion of Phase 1 has hit the 33% mark, while pond construction is at 45% already \u2013 both metrics aligning with the physical progress and capital expenditure of its Phase 1 budget.<\/p>\n<p>Pond evaporation and construction at Hombre Muerto West.
