{"id":8623,"date":"2024-04-22T02:13:15","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T02:13:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=8623"},"modified":"2024-04-22T02:13:15","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T02:13:15","slug":"debut-drilling-by-scorpion-minerals-outlines-fresh-lithium-targets-at-poona-east","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=8623","title":{"rendered":"Debut drilling by Scorpion Minerals outlines fresh lithium targets at Poona East"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maiden drilling at Scorpion Minerals\u2019 Poona East prospect intersects LCT pegmatites<br \/>\nA total of 7 RC holes were carried out while field reconnaissance finds additional pegmatites south of Mt Mulcahy deposit<br \/>\nA heritage survey is planned while upcoming exploration includes geological mapping, soil geochemistry and RC\/diamond drilling <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report: <\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0Lithium-focused reverse circulation (RC) drilling at Poona East, within the broader Pharos project, has uncovered several LCT pegmatite intervals laying the groundwork for upcoming exploration endeavours. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/scorpion-minerals-scn\/\">Scorpion Minerals\u2019 (ASX:SCN)<\/a> Pharos project, about 60km northwest of Cue in the WA\u2019s Murchison mineral field, covers some 1,295km2 of ground and holds potential for lithium-PGE-nickel-copper-gold mineralisation.<\/p>\n<p>It contains the Mt Mulcahy deposit, which features a zone of mineralisation called the \u2018South Limb Pod\u2019 where a measured, indicated, and inferred resource of 647,000 tonnes at 2.4% copper, 1.8% zinc, 0.1% cobalt and 20g\/t silver currently stands.<\/p>\n<p>In recent times, SCN has been targeting outcropping LCT pegmatites at Poona East where historical surface sampling returned values up 2.99% at Li2O and where geological mapping confirmed stacked pegmatites up to 1km long.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Pegmatites found along prospective granite contact <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A seven-hole maiden RC drilling program has intersected highly fractionated LCT pegmatites up to 1.8% Li20 as well as 725ppm tantalum, 22ppm niobium, 1518ppm caesium and 7,081ppm rubidium.<\/p>\n<p>The program, designed to test stratigraphy and structural orientation, also encountered two generations of pegmatite \u2013 one being highly fractionated complex LCT pegmatite and the other consisting of unmineralised quartz-feldspar pegmatites.<\/p>\n<p>SCN says the complex pegmatites were intersected in three holes and dip steeply south, intersecting significant thickness of highly fractionated LCT pegmatite enriched in lithium, caesium, tantalum, niobium and rubidium.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the simple pegmatites were also intersected in three holes but were unmineralised.<\/p>\n<p>Field reconnaissance south of Mt Mulcahy at the eastern end of the corridor identified pegmatite and associated quartz-tourmaline veining adjacent to the prospective contact.<\/p>\n<p>SCN collected rock chip samples and assays are pending.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Steady stream of news flow to come <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe latest round of RC drilling was designed to improve our technical understanding of key target areas,\u201d SCN CEO Michael Fotios says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have also intersected several encouraging LCT pegmatite intervals which will form an important focus of our upcoming drilling and exploration campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScorpion continues to build an exciting lithium footprint in the Murchison region of WA, and we look forward to reporting a steady stream of news flow over the coming months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Scorpion Minerals, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
