{"id":8431,"date":"2024-04-15T22:58:59","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T22:58:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=8431"},"modified":"2024-04-15T22:58:59","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T22:58:59","slug":"lycaon-on-the-road-to-drill-stansmore-niobium-rare-earths-project-in-red-hot-west-arunta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=8431","title":{"rendered":"Lycaon on the road to drill Stansmore niobium-rare earths project in red hot West Arunta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lycaon Resources has received a key land access permit for drilling at its Stansmore project in WA\u2019s West Arunta region<br \/>\nProject is close to WA1\u2019s discoveries and ENR\u2019s Worsley prospect<br \/>\nCompany is now organising a heritage survey ahead of drilling in the middle of this year<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report:<\/em><\/strong><strong> Lycaon Resources is another step closer to drilling its Stansmore project in WA\u2019s highly prospective West Arunta region after receiving approval for a key land access permit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The West Arunta region is one of WA\u2019s last frontiers for major critical mineral and copper-gold (IOCG) discoveries.<\/p>\n<p>The region has attracted the likes of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/encounter-resources-enr\/\"><strong>Encounter Resources (ASX:ENR)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/wa1-resources-wa1\/\"><strong>WA1 Resources (ASX:WA1)<\/strong><\/a>, the latter continuing to deliver standout niobium results ~90km south of Stansmore, including an intersection of 30m at 4.7% niobium.<\/p>\n<p>Stansmore itself is also prospective for both niobium and rare earth mineralisation with <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/lycaon-resources-lyn\/\"><strong>Lycaon Resources (ASX:LYN)<\/strong><\/a> having identified a carbonatite target that consists of a\u00a0regionally prominent 700m long magnetic feature analogous to WA1\u2019s discoveries and ENR\u2019s Worsley prospect.<\/p>\n<p>Carbonatites are one of the most important sources of niobium and REE\u2019s and host all three of the world\u2019s operating niobium mines and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/lynas-lyc\/\"><strong>Lynas\u2019 (ASX:LYC)<\/strong><\/a> Mt Weld deposit.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Land access paves way for exploration<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>LYN now has approval from Western Australia Aboriginal Affairs Minister Dr Tony Buti for a permit to carry out exploration work at its Stansmore project.<\/p>\n<p>Technical director Thomas Langley says the approval is a pivotal step in its efforts to test the high order magnetic target at Stansmore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur focus will now turn to organising a heritage survey ahead of drilling mid-year,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe West Arunta is one of the last frontiers for major critical mineral and copper-gold (IOCG) discoveries in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe identification of niobium and rare earth mineralisation associated with carbonatite intrusions by WA1 Resources and Encounter Resources nearby in their first ever drill programs signifies the extremely prospective and underexplored nature of the West Arunta.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Lycaon Resources, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
