{"id":797,"date":"2023-11-01T02:26:53","date_gmt":"2023-11-01T02:26:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=797"},"modified":"2023-11-01T02:26:53","modified_gmt":"2023-11-01T02:26:53","slug":"more-will-be-discovered-leeuwin-unearths-multiple-spodumene-bearing-pegmatites-along-4-7km-trend-at-cross-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=797","title":{"rendered":"\u2018More will be discovered\u2019: Leeuwin unearths multiple spodumene bearing pegmatites along 4.7km trend at Cross Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fieldwork at Leeuwin Metals\u2019 Cross Lake project identifies several spodumene bearing pegmatites over a 4.7km trend<br \/>\nThis marks the first discovery along the Cross Lake Greenstone Belt<br \/>\n30 samples have been collected and submitted for analysis with results expected in 2024 <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fieldwork at Leeuwin Metals\u2019 Cross Lake lithium project has identified multiple spodumene bearing pegmatites at the Spodumene Island and Metis Island prospect areas, marking the first such findings along the Cross Lake Greenstone Belt. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/leeuwin-metals-lm1\/\">Leeuwin Metals\u2019 (ASX:LM1)<\/a> Cross Lake project is a district scale lithium play in Manitoba, Canada, with 70km of underexplored greenstone.<\/p>\n<p>This recent project acquisition extends LM1\u2019s exploration footprint some 2,000km2, solidifying it as the one of the largest lithium exploration projects in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>It also successfully secured 100% of the entire Cross Lake Greenstone Belt, paving the way for further exploration success and regional growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Multiple spodumene rich LCT pegmatites<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>LM1\u2019s discovery of multiple spodumene-bearing occurrences has expanded the known spodumene-bearing pegmatites identified through the re-sampling of historic drill holes and historical channel sampling.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sampling of LCT Pegmatite on Spodumene Island. Pic via Leeuwin Metals<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Spodumene, a lithium bearing mineral which grades ~6% lithium, is the holy grail for hard rock lithium explorers.<\/p>\n<p>Initial boots on the ground exploration has uncovered pegmatites over a 4.7km trend at the Spodumene Island and Metis Island prospect areas, defining the potential large-scale lithium opportunity in a region that has previously not been subject to systematic lithium exploration.<\/p>\n<p>This work focused on the eastern and western target areas as well as the main trend where no historical drilling has occurred but multiple spodumene bearing pegmatites are present in outcropping.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>LCT pegmatites and spodumene present along a 4.7km trend. Pic via Leeuwin Metals<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Fast-tracking exploration <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWe are very pleased to have completed this phase of the field work at Cross Lake,\u201d LM1 managing director Christopher Piggott says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur work has confirmed the potential large scale and under explored nature of the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe level of anomalism across the trend is highly encouraging with the expectation that more will be discovered once activities are completed to expose under cover outcrop and by future drilling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to advancing exploration at the project with a view to be drill testing some of these areas in the first half of next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What\u2019s next? <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A total of 15 pegmatites have been identified and 30 channel samples collected and submitted for analysis with results expected in the first quarter of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>LM1 plans to begin drilling activities (1,000m) in the same time frame once the fieldwork program wraps up and once the drilling permit application has been granted by the Manitoba Government.<\/p>\n<p>This application process will run in parallel with the Company\u2019s ongoing engagement and consultation with first nation communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Leeuwin Metals, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
