{"id":7653,"date":"2024-03-26T05:49:05","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T05:49:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=7653"},"modified":"2024-03-26T05:49:05","modified_gmt":"2024-03-26T05:49:05","slug":"exploration-target-lays-groundwork-for-one-of-canadas-most-exciting-lithium-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=7653","title":{"rendered":"Exploration target lays groundwork for one of Canada\u2019s most exciting lithium projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Green Technology Metals could up the mineral resources estimate at its Root Bay project by 11-21Mt after posting a new exploration target<br \/>\nThe deposit is already among the most advanced in Ontario, where GT1 is aiming to become a first mover in the Canadian lithium industry<br \/>\n10,000m diamond drilling program planned after successful 2023 drill drive<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report:<\/em><\/strong> <strong>Green Technology Metals has taken another step to unlock the stunning potential of its 14.6Mt Root lithium project in Ontario, Canada, launching a new exploration target up to 35Mt of lithium ore.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new exploration target of 25-35Mt at 1-1.5% Li2O is a 11Mt increase on Root\u2019s previous target, which was upgraded based on knowledge gained from drilling over the past 18 months.<\/p>\n<p>It comes after wide, high-grade results were returned from a 2023 drill campaign that demonstrated seven stacked pegmatites over a massive 800m east to west trend some 1.3km east of the Root Bay resource.<\/p>\n<p>Another 10,000m of diamond drilling is already being planned in the coming months to test this eastern system along with potential underground resources in the Root Bay Deeps.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><em>GT1 could make Root an even stronger development prospect with a new exploration target. Pic: GT1<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Getting to the Root<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Root Bay deposit is already one of the largest spodumene resources identified in Canada and the most significant in Ontario, located to the north of the industrial hub of Thunder Bay, where Green Technology Metals (ASX:GT1) is planning to construct a downstream processing hub.<\/p>\n<p>The wider project boasts 14.6Mt at 1.21% Li2O including 9.4Mt at 1.3% Li2O in indicated resources.<\/p>\n<p>Around 10.1Mt at 1.29% Li2O is hosted at Root with the balance at the nearby McCombe deposit, which contains 4.5Mt at 1.01%.<\/p>\n<p>Another 6-10Mt could come from underground resources beneath the Root Bay deposit, with GT1 eyeing a potential 2-6Mt at Root Bay East and 2-4Mt at another deposit known as Morrison.<\/p>\n<p>On top of that, GT1 boasts another 10.3Mt at 1.03% in resources at Seymour, for a total inventory of 24.9Mt at 1.13% Li2O.<\/p>\n<p>If it hits the upper end of its exploration target, GT1 would be among a handful of hard rock spodumene explorers with close to 50Mt in resources.<\/p>\n<p>The final assay results have given the company plenty of confidence ahead of the next drilling campaign, including a further significant hit at Root Bay East of 11.6m at 1.18% Li2O from 120.9m.<\/p>\n<p>Previously announced results from the 2023 drill drive include:<\/p>\n<p>RBE-23-007: 23.3m at 1.16% Li2O from 197.0m<br \/>\nRBE-23-009: 11.7m at 1.12% Li2O from 216.3m<br \/>\nRBE-23-008: 10.5m at 1.08% Li2O from 318.0m; and,<br \/>\nRBE-23-005: 3.9m at 2.17% Li2O from 188.7m.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><em>Drill hits to the east of the Root Bay resource have shown the potential to grow it along strike.
