{"id":7552,"date":"2024-03-25T01:07:10","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T01:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=7552"},"modified":"2024-03-25T01:07:10","modified_gmt":"2024-03-25T01:07:10","slug":"dy6-metals-defines-enticingly-large-target-at-salambidwe-ree-niobium-project-in-malawi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=7552","title":{"rendered":"DY6 Metals defines \u2018enticingly large target\u2019 at Salambidwe REE-niobium project in Malawi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DY6 Metals has completed initial geochemical and geophysical work at the Salambidwe REE-niobium project<br \/>\nResults expand the known area of anomalous responses and confirm the highly concentric nature of the intrusive complex<br \/>\nPriority targets will now be defined for drill testing <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report<\/em>: An initial geochemical and geophysical exploration program at Salambidwe in southern Malawi has increased the potential size and scale of REE and niobium target areas at the site. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/dy6-metals-dy6\/\"><strong>DY6 Metals (ASX:DY6)<\/strong><\/a> has received the results from the 128 soil and 386 rock chip sampling program, with maximum values returning 1.21% total rare earth oxide (TREO) and 0.12% niobium.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 514 soil and rock chip samples were collected over a 50km grid from outcrops across the licence area, alongside the completion of an airborne geophysical program consisting of 45-line kilometres of electromagnetic plus radiometric surveying to map the magnetic and conductive properties of the geology of Salambidwe.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Salambidwe intrusive complex. Pic: Supplied (DY6)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ground-based, grid-controlled geochemical sampling was undertaken to confirm historical exploration results from <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/globe-metals-mining-gbe\/\">Globe Metals and Mining (ASX:GBE)<\/a> and to expand the footprint of anomalous responses.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Sampling to close off anomalous zones <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Previous activity did not close off the anomalous zones, nor had airborne geophysical surveys covered the area due to its proximity to the border with Mozambique.<\/p>\n<p>DY6\u2019s sampling was specifically aimed at either extending or closing off these anomalous zones to the northern and western part of the licence.<\/p>\n<p>Although the area of historical sampling was not resampled, several traverses were made across the outlined anomalous areas to ensure consistency and coherency of results.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anomalous TREO responses. Pic: Supplied (DY6)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Absolute values obtained from the DY6 exploration appear to be slightly lower in tenor than the historical data.<\/p>\n<p>The company says this is due to the majority of its sampling being peripheral to the historical sampling and extending away from the central anomalous area.<\/p>\n<p>Detailed sampling expanded the anomalous areas on 100x100m spacing and the more regional and confirmatory sampling was at 100m intervals along lines 500m apart.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u2018Enticingly large target\u2019 <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>DY6 says niobium results also extended anomalous areas, with the Western Zone now about 1,700m long (including outside tenure) and the Eastern Zone recording 1,500m in length.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe expansion of the anomalous areas at Salambidwe creates an enticingly large target, the exploration team have done an excellent job in rugged terrain,\u201d DY6 chief executive Lloyd Kaiser says.<\/p>\n<p>DY6 now plans to define the priority targets for drill testing and will review these in conjunction with the digital terrain data to ascertain accessibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with DY6 Metals, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
