Do you have boxes of LEGO from your childhood for your children to now enjoy and add to the collection?<\/p>\n<p>A report late last year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consultancy.com.au\/news\/8586\/deloitte-analysis-finds-lego-to-be-among-most-sought-after-collectibles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">from consultancy firm Deloitte and eBay<\/a> found LEGO sets to be among Australian collectors most sought after items.<\/p>\n<p>A pitfall of LEGO for parents must surely be standing on pieces. Add to the list finding LEGO in places it really shouldn\u2019t be like washing machines, or picking up pieces from around the house to make sure crawling babies and toddlers or ever-hungry golden retrievers don\u2019t swallow a piece.<\/p>\n<p>But here\u2019s a piece of LEGO you may be happy to find on the floor of your living room and definitely wouldn\u2019t want to vacuum up.<\/p>\n<p>A goodwill store in the US recently auctioned off a rare 14-carat gold Lego piece, fetching US$18,101.<\/p>\n<p>The item, a petite golden Kanohi Hau mask, hails from LEGO\u2019s discontinued Bionicle collection and was discovered among a bag of jewellery donated to the goodwill store in Du Bois, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/smart-news\/rare-gold-lego-piece-found-at-goodwill-sells-for-18101-180983913\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to reports,<\/a> LEGO produced only 30 golden Kanohi Hau masks, all distributed during a 2001 promotion. Within the Bionicle narrative, these masks confer protective abilities upon the wearer, with the golden Kanohi Hau mask possessing exceptional strength.<\/p>\n<p>Staff at the Goodwill store didn\u2019t know how valuable the LEGO piece was at first listing it on their online store for US$14.95.\u00a0 After 48 offers the LEGO piece was sold to a buyer who wished to remain anonymous for the much larger sum.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>The ASX\u2026<\/h2>\n<p>There were five sectors up today and six in the red. Leading the winners was materials, up 1.68% with staples rising 0.61% and energy stocks up 0.15%.<\/p>\n<p>Financials led the laggards, falling 1.55% followed by telecommunications losing 0.68% and the tech sector down 0.31%.<\/p>\n<p>Via Market Index<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Major banks were all down today with <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/westpac-wbc\/\"><strong>Westpac (ASX:WBC)<\/strong><\/a> the weakest, falling 2.75%.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/business\/trading-day\/live-asx-200-may-rise-wall-street-mixed-iron-ore-miners-in-focus-bitcoin-tops-us73000\/live-coverage\/d4aaa7aad320fa8d45fd6e614b252781\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Australian<\/em> says Macquarie<\/a> has cut <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/australia-and-new-zealand-banking-group-anz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australia and New Zealand Bank Group (ASX:ANZ)<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/national-australia-bank-nab\/\"><strong>National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB)<\/strong><\/a> and WBC to underperform, while leaving <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/commonwealth-bank-cba\/\"><strong>Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA)<\/strong><\/a> at that rating.<\/p>\n<p>Rising copper prices along with gold have send miners focusing on the metals up today. <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/evolution-mining-evn\/\"><strong>Evolution Mining (ASX:EVN)<\/strong><\/a> is up ~7%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/bhp-bhp\/\"><strong>BHP (ASX:BHP)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 has also regained some lost ground, up 2.72% today after Citi upgraded the Big Australian to a buy.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Stocks going ex-dividend<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/austin-engineering-ang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Austin Engineering (ASX:ANG)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 0.4 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/eagers-automotive-ape\/\"><strong>Eagers Automotive (ASX:APE)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 50 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/breville-brg\/\"><strong>Breville (ASX:BRG)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 16 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/embelton-emb\/\"><strong>Embelton (ASX:EMB)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 15 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/h-g-high-conviction-hcf\/\"><strong>H&amp;G High Conviction (ASX:HCF)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 2 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/inghams-ing\/\"><strong>Inghams (ASX:ING)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 12 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plato Inc Max Ltd. (ASX:PL8)<\/strong> is paying 0.55 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/pwr-pwh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PWR Holdings Limited (ASX:PWH)<\/a><\/strong> is paying 4.8 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/regis-healthcare-reg\/\"><strong>Regis Healthcare (ASX:REG)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 6.28 cents 50 per cent franked<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/shriro-shm\/\"><strong>Shriro (ASX:SHM)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 2 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/srg-global-srg\/\"><strong>SRG Global (ASX:SRG)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 2 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/southern-cross-media-group-sxl\/\"><strong>Southern Cross Media Group (ASX:SXL)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 1 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/tpg-telecom-tpm\/\"><strong>TPG Telecom (ASX:TPM)<\/strong><\/a> is paying 9 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p><strong>WCM Global Growth (ASX:WQG)<\/strong> is paying 1.72 cents fully franked<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Not the ASX\u2026<\/h2>\n<p>Overnight on Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average saw a slight increase of 0.1%, while the S&amp;P 500 ended the session down 0.2%, and the technology-centric NASDAQ composite fell 0.5%.<\/p>\n<p>This session marked the first full day of trading since the release of US inflation data on Tuesday, which surpassed expectations.<\/p>\n<p>The most recent US Consumer Price Index (CPI) data revealed that headline inflation rose by 0.4% in February and 3.2% over the previous year, showing a slight uptick from January\u2019s 0.3% increase and 3.1% annual rise, exceeding forecasts.<\/p>\n<p>Core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, also showed a 0.4% increase for the month and a 3.1% gain over the year.<\/p>\n<p>Investors are closely monitoring for signals on when the US Federal Reserve might adjust interest rates.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/economy\/janet-yellen-warns-inflation-decline-might-not-be-smooth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In an interview with Fox<\/a>\u00a0US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says inflation could take a bumpy return to the 2% target after after back-to-back reports show that price pressures within the US economy rebounded at the start of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t expect this to be a smooth path month to month, but the trend is clearly favourable (sic),\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat said, President Biden\u2019s top priority is addressing the issue of high costs that concerns so many Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Global oil prices hit four-month high<\/h2>\n<p>Global oil prices rose over 2% to a four\u2011month high on Wednesday on a surprise withdrawal in US crude inventories, a bigger\u2011than\u2011expected drop in US gasoline stocks and potential supply disruptions after Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries.<\/p>\n<p>US energy firms pulled a surprise 1.5 million barrels of crude from stockpiles last week.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts had forecast a 1.3 million barrel build. The Brent crude price rose by $US2.11 or 2.6% to $US84.03 a barrel.<\/p>\n<p>Base metal prices have been mixed.<\/p>\n<p>Copper futures jumped 3.2% to an 11\u2011month high after Chinese smelters, which process half of the world\u2019s mined copper, agreed on a joint production cut. Aluminium futures slid 0.2%.<\/p>\n<p>The gold futures price rose by $US14.70 or 0.7% to $US2,180.80 an ounce. Spot gold was trading near $US2,173 an ounce at the US close.<\/p>\n<p>Iron ore futures slid $US1.38 or 1.2% to $US111.77 a tonne, on demand concerns in China amid rising equipment maintenance among steelmakers and the latest environmental curbs in northern region of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Currencies were stronger against the US dollar in European and US trade. The Aussie dollar lifted from US66.02 cents to US66.34 cents and was near US66.20 cents at the US close.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin is trading higher, up 2.55% to $73,298 after buyers jostled to take advantage of yesterday\u2019s post-CPI dip back to the November 2021 high of $69,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>ASX small cap winners <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Here are the best performing ASX small cap stocks for\u00a0<\/strong><strong>March 14 [intraday]:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Swipe or scroll to reveal full table.
