{"id":7074,"date":"2024-03-13T01:26:01","date_gmt":"2024-03-13T01:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=7074"},"modified":"2024-03-13T01:26:01","modified_gmt":"2024-03-13T01:26:01","slug":"in-less-than-12-months-kingsland-minerals-has-delineated-the-largest-graphite-deposit-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=7074","title":{"rendered":"In less than 12 months, Kingsland Minerals has delineated the largest graphite deposit in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kingsland Minerals confirms Leliyn is now Australia\u2019s largest graphite deposit<br \/>\nInferred resource of 14.2Mt contained graphite grading @ 7.3%<br \/>\nEstimate based on just 4km of the 20km outcropping schist<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report<\/em><\/strong><strong>: The maiden resource for Kingsland Minerals\u2019 Leliyn project in the Northern Territory has been confirmed as Australia\u2019s largest inferred contained graphite deposit with a whopping 14.2Mt.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/div>\n\n<p>With 51 RC and 11 diamond core drill holes completed across the project area since maiden drilling kicked off in May last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/kingsland-minerals-kng\/\"><strong>Kingsland Minerals (ASX:KNG)<\/strong><\/a> is sitting on a monster of a flake graphite deposit \u2013 especially since just 4km of the identified 20km outcropping graphitic schist was part of the mineral resource estimate (MRE).<\/p>\n<p>KNG took over historical exploration from Thundelarra Exploration \u2013 now <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/ora-gold-oau\/\"><strong>Ora Gold (ASX:OAU)<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 which drilled a couple of holes prior to and including 2015, with samples returning up to 10.1% TGC while the company was hunting uranium and gold mineralisation.<\/p>\n<p>Taking over the project to concentrate on the area\u2019s graphite endowment now looks to be a masterstroke by KNG.<\/p>\n<p>In under a year, the explorer has delineated an inferred 194.6Mt @7.3% TGC 14.2Mt contained graphite deposit at Leliyn \u2013 the largest of its kind in Australia and one of the biggest in the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Australia\u2019s largest inferred graphite deposit<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>KNG\u2019s Leliyn deposit is focused along the contact between the Cullen Granite and Mundogie geological formations.<\/p>\n<p>A 20km-long graphite schist has formed three separate mineralised zones based on a minimal 3% total contained graphite (TGC) cut-off.<\/p>\n<p>Grades were so good last year\u2019s Stage 1 drilling program that KNG went straight to building out the MRE after results delivered best intersections of:<\/p>\n<p>206m @ 10.0% TGC from surface<br \/>\n114m @ 8.0 % TGC from 1m<br \/>\n285m @ 6.1 % TGC from surface<br \/>\n94m @ 7.4 % TGC from 30m<br \/>\n160m @ 5.6 % TGC from 36m<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The three zones along the identified graphite schist. Pic: Supplied (KNG)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Adding to the party<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Metallurgical testing is currently in progress and initial data indicates recoveries of 93-95% @ grades of ~90% TGC, implying a marketable graphite concentrate of &gt;94%.<\/p>\n<p>In geo terms, that\u2019s a great result.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very pleased with the maiden MRE at Leliyn,\u201d KNG managing director Richard Maddocks says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn less than 12 months, Kingsland Minerals has delineated the largest graphite deposit in Australia, and also one of the largest in the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe demand for graphite is only going to increase and Kingsland is very well placed to develop Leliyn into a globally significant graphite project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe initial metallurgical test work is progressing and this, along with the MRE, are important initial steps in developing Leliyn into an important critical minerals project in the Northern Territory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Kingsland Minerals, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
