Samples from the 560m-long Warhawk pegmatite at James Bay Minerals\u2019 Aero prospect returned lithium concentrations with spodumene crystals that bear a strong resemblance to those found at Greenbushes, the world\u2019s largest lithium mine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, hiddenite is real.<\/p>\n

While you may have encountered it in an old-school RPG or your kid\u2019s Roblox game, hiddenite is actually a vibrant, green variety of spodumene named after W.E Hidden \u2013 who first discovered the rare gem in North Carolina in 1897.<\/p>\n

The real kicker here is that hiddenite is found in the world\u2019s largest lithium mine, Talison Lithium\u2019s Greenbushes in southwest WA \u2013 which has an outrageous ~4% ore grade \u2014 and now James Bay Minerals\u2019 (ASX:JBY)<\/strong><\/a> Aero prospect.<\/p>\n

Field exploration at Aero, part of James Bay Minerals\u2019 (ASX:JBY)<\/strong><\/a> the explorer\u2019s La Grande project in the James Bay lithium precinct in Quebec, Canada, has discovered the \u2018Warhawk\u2019 pegmatite \u2013 a 560m-long, up to 20m wide body full of spodumene crystals.<\/p>\n

Aero consists of 89 continuous claims across 43.65km2 and contains ~12km of deformation zones considered highly prospective to contain LCT pegmatites.<\/p>\n

Nearby Cancet West, owned by Winsome Resources (ASX:WR1)<\/strong><\/a>, as well as Patriot Lithium\u2019s (ASX:PAT)<\/strong><\/a> Corvette lithium projects both have similar deformation zones running through their properties and have had significant exploration success to date.<\/p>\n

Utilising a SciAps laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) reader \u2013 a high-tech scanning technique that is used ever more frequently in exploration \u2013 testing of rock chip and channel samples from hiddenite-rich Warhawk have shown multiple Li2O hits across its entire length and breadth.<\/p>\n

\u201cMark Fekete, Senior Field Geologist with James Bay\u2019s exploration partner, Breakaway Exploration, commented:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe discovery of a lithium-bearing mineral at surface on the Warhawk pegmatite within the Aero Property confirms that this pegmatite contains lithium. Now that we have proven through a recognised exploration technique that lithium is present, our focus is to now determine where the highest concentration of lithium is within the Warhawk and other pegmatites dykes on the Property.\u201d<\/p>\n

Samples have been sent to the lab and assays are pending to reveal lithium grades from the prospect area.<\/p>\n
