{"id":6991,"date":"2024-03-12T00:35:28","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T00:35:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=6991"},"modified":"2024-03-12T00:35:28","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T00:35:28","slug":"heavy-rare-earths-nears-the-finish-line-of-metallurgical-test-work-at-cowalinya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=6991","title":{"rendered":"Heavy Rare Earths nears the finish line of metallurgical test work at Cowalinya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Heavy Rare Earths has received the latest results from the expansion of its diagnostic leaching program at Cowalinya<br \/>\nThese composites represent a broad range of feed grades, depths and magnet rare earth composition<br \/>\nMore results are expected shortly <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report<\/em>: Heavy Rare Earths has received results from the expansion of its diagnostic leaching program on rare earth mineralisation at the Cowalinya project near Esperance in WA. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/heavy-rare-earths-hre\/\">Heavy Rare Earths (ASX:HRE)<\/a><\/strong> says the results over a large part of the Cowalinya rare earths (REE) resource have confirmed, and in some metrics exceeded, the results from last year\u2019s sighter work.<\/p>\n<p>Perth-based Strategic Metallurgy completed the sizing and diagnostic leach testing of 63 composites, with 57 of those from within the Cowalinya inferred resources (159Mt @ 870 ppm TREO) and the remainder from the project\u2019s exploration target area (280-1390Mt @ 330-1,330ppm TREO).<\/p>\n<p>The expanded program continues to deliver upgraded rare earth material by simple screening, \u201cexcellent\u201d magnet rare earth extraction to leach (as high as 92.3%), and low acid consumption (as low as 3.8 kg\/t).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cowalinya metallurgical composites showing TREO extracted into solution. Pic via HRE<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Solid foundation to larger-scale piloting <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWe have demonstrated the efficient extraction of magnet rare earths, using modest volumes of commercial-grade acid, for many composite samples that represent a range of saprolite feed grades,\u201d HRE executive director Richard Brescianini says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis data provides HRE with a solid foundation for leach optimisation test work, leading to larger-scale piloting and the analysis of the project from a commercial perspective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur parallel workstream to produce mixed rare earth carbonate product has experienced delays associated with sample loss, assay turnaround and flowsheet modification.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNonetheless this program is nearing completion, and results are anticipated in the coming weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/div>\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Heavy Rare Earths, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
