{"id":699,"date":"2023-10-30T23:13:27","date_gmt":"2023-10-30T23:13:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=699"},"modified":"2023-10-30T23:13:27","modified_gmt":"2023-10-30T23:13:27","slug":"most-visually-encouraging-porphyry-style-copper-mineralisation-to-date-pxrf-readings-at-el-pilar-return-high-grade-copper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=699","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Most visually encouraging porphyry style copper mineralisation to date\u2019: pXRF readings at El Pilar return high-grade copper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Latest drill hole at El Pilar project in Cuba displays \u2018most intense\u2019 porphyry style copper mineralisation to date <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The copper porphyry remains open at depth and is what Antilles will be targeting in the short term<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Resource for shallow gold-copper deposit overlying the El Pilar porphyry expected January 2024 <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>This resource will underpin the low cost, high return <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/financial-projections-indicate-very-high-returns-construction-of-antilles-high-grade-nueva-sabana-copper-gold-mine-to-begin-mid-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Nueva Sabana mine<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Antilles says \u2018outstanding\u2019 copper intersections have been confirmed by pXRF readings in the latest diamond drill hole through the oxide copper domain at El Pilar. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/antilles-gold-aau\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antille\u2019s (ASX:AAU)<\/a> is developing two near term gold mining projects (Nueva Sabana and La Demajagua) to fund its quest for large copper porphyries in Cuba through a partnership with the Government\u2019s mining company, GeoMinera.<\/p>\n<p>Porphyry mines are huge responsible for ~60 per cent of the world\u2019s copper, most of its molybdenum, and significant amounts of gold and silver.<\/p>\n<p>Their easy-mining large volumes make up for the low grades, typically between 0.3 per cent to 1 per cent copper equivalent.<\/p>\n<p>But finding and proving up these company makers is expensive, often requiring numerous deep, very expensive\u00a0drill holes into \u2018blind\u2019 exploration targets hidden under cover or at great depths.<\/p>\n<p>Hence the proposed near term mine developments at Nueva Sabana \u2013 which is based on the El Pilar gold-copper oxide deposit that overlays a large copper-gold porphyry system \u2014 and La Demajagua.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>El Pilar copper gold system <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>An ongoing 7,000m drilling program, designed to culminate in a maiden resource for Nueva Sabana, has now returned \u201csome of the most intense porphyry style copper mineralization to date with strong veining, and stockwork hosting large lengths of visual copper sulphide mineralization\u201d, the company says.<\/p>\n<p>There were multiple high-grade hits recorded via pXRF across hole PDH 045A, from the upper horizon of the copper oxide zone to end of hole at 290m within the porphyry sulphide.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights include:<\/p>\n<p>2m @ 3.08% Cu from 56m<br \/>\n3m @ 0.95% Cu from 74m<br \/>\n3m @ 1.73% Cu from 150m<br \/>\n2m @ 1.39% from 169m<br \/>\n6m @ 2.20% Cu from 190m<br \/>\n4m @ 0.96% Cu from 207m<br \/>\n12m @ 1.27% Cu from 220m<br \/>\n2m @ 1.13% Cu from 259m; and<br \/>\n14m @ 1.96% Cu from 276m.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While no substitute for lab assays, portable X-Ray Fluorescence, or pXRF, has become a key part of the exploration geologist\u2019s toolkit, a real time sampling tool used to identify areas of promise.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><em>Caption: The El Pilar oxide deposit overlies a rich copper porphyry, which remains open at depth. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Upcoming deeper drilling ahead <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThis encouraging intersection of copper mineralization in sulphides, confirmed by the XRF readings, in the most southeastern parts of the El Pilar prospect gives us great encouragement for the upcoming deeper drilling to target the porphyry body at depth,\u201d AAU exploration director Christian Grainger says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the drillhole terminated in mineralised porphyry in a fault zone, the copper mineralized porphyry remains open at depth and this is what we will be targeting in the short term\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Antilles Gold, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
