{"id":6964,"date":"2024-03-11T01:50:46","date_gmt":"2024-03-11T01:50:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=6964"},"modified":"2024-03-11T01:50:46","modified_gmt":"2024-03-11T01:50:46","slug":"more-than-threefold-nordic-nickels-pulju-project-sees-contained-nickel-metal-surge-to-862800t","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=6964","title":{"rendered":"\u2018More than threefold\u2019: Nordic Nickel\u2019s Pulju project sees contained nickel metal surge to 862,800t"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hotinvaara resource now sits at 418Mt @ 0.21% nickel, 0.01% cobalt and 53ppm copper for 862,800t of contained nickel<br \/>\nA substantial portion of the resource is within 250m of surface<br \/>\nNordic Nickel undertaking further exploration planning to refine the next phase of drilling <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special Report: Nordic Nickel\u2019s new resource for the Hotinvaara prospect \u2013 which now sits at 418Mt @ 0.21% nickel or 862,800t of contained nickel \u2013 represents just 5km2 or 2% of the total 240km2 area within the wider Pulju project. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/nordic-nickel-nnl\/\">Nordic Nickel (ASX:NNL)<\/a> has updated the in-situ mineral resource estimate for the Hotinvaara prospect in Finland following an extensive and highly successful 2023 drilling campaign designed to identify exploration opportunities beyond the previously drilled areas.<\/p>\n<p>The threefold increase in tonnages and contained metal to 862,800t establishes Pulju as a globally significant nickel sulphide project, particularly given its proximity to the fast-growing European battery materials and EV sector.<\/p>\n<p>Hotinvaara is one of nine prospective zones scattered throughout the Pulju project within the Central Lapland Greenstone belt, 50km north of Kittil\u00e4, with access to infrastructure, grid power, national highway, an international airport and \u2013 most importantly \u2013 Europe\u2019s only two nickel smelters.<\/p>\n<p>The municipality of Kittil\u00e4 also hosts western Europe\u2019s largest gold mine, Suurikuusikko, operated by Agnico Eagle.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Clear marker to higher-grade mineralisation <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>NNL managing director Todd Ross says that although this is an in-situ mineral resource estimate (MRE) with further work already underway to establish its economic potential, the new resource clearly outlines the size of the disseminated sulphide system \u2013 which remains open in almost all directions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is also particularly significant that the updated MRE represents just 2% of our overall landholding in north Finland,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur geology team believe this represents a clear marker or pathfinder to potential zones of higher-grade mineralisation, as well as delineating a major deposit in its own right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u2018Perfectly positioned\u2019 to benefit from nickel recovery <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>NNL\u2019s focus over the coming months will be further evaluation of the disseminated mineralisation.<\/p>\n<p>Ross says the discovery of a significant zone of Sakatti-style mineralisation at Pulju could quickly transform the project and elevate the importance of the disseminated mineralisation already defined.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that Pulju is a project that is perfectly positioned to benefit from what we expect to be a significant recovery in the global nickel market in the coming years as the Western World seeks new sources of Class-1 nickel,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere aren\u2019t many new mines in this part of the world to meet that demand \u2013 and that\u2019s where projects like Pulju come in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis updated MRE sets a very strong value foundation for Nordic Nickel and provides us with an excellent launch pad to move forward into our second year of operations in Finland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What\u2019s next? <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>NNL has a busy year ahead with more drilling, metallurgical test work and other strategic developments that could significantly enhance Pulju.<\/p>\n<p>Planning is under way to refine the next phase of exploration, with an emphasis on potential high-grade targets within the vast disseminated nickel sulphide complex.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Nordic Nickel, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
