{"id":6518,"date":"2024-02-29T01:58:51","date_gmt":"2024-02-29T01:58:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=6518"},"modified":"2024-02-29T01:58:51","modified_gmt":"2024-02-29T01:58:51","slug":"qx-resources-sizes-up-early-offtake-interest-for-its-liberty-lithium-brine-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=6518","title":{"rendered":"QX Resources sizes up early offtake interest for its Liberty lithium brine products"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>QX Resources signs LOI with Stardust Power for potential offtake of lithium brine products from the Liberty Lithium Brine Project in the USA<br \/>\nNegotiation will cover assessment of lithium brines from the project prior to deciding on supply<br \/>\nAssays pending for two drill holes which intersected multiple brine aquifers<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report:<\/em> QX Resources has received early interest in the lithium products that it could produce from its large-scale Liberty Lithium brine project in California from Stardust Power.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 102km2 project \u2013 about twice the size of the Sydney Harbour \u2013 hosts an extensive lithium brine surface anomaly with elevated results up to 215mg\/Li extending over 10km.<\/p>\n<p>It also appears to be within a geological setting which mirrored Albemarle\u2019s nearby producing Silver Peak lithium brine deposit in Nevada\u2019s Clayton Valley, as well as other major brine projects in Argentina.<\/p>\n<p>Drilling by <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/qx-resources-qxr\/\"><strong>QX Resources (ASX:QXR)<\/strong><\/a> has already reinforced this geological similarity with its recent two-hole program having intersected multiple brine reservoirs.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/qx-resources-lands-a-big-fish-with-drilling-confirming-libertys-geological-similarity-to-a-nearby-lithium-brine-producer\/\"><strong>second hole<\/strong><\/a> intersected five brine aquifers at 90m, 130m, 210m, 245m and 295m with widths varying from just a few metres to 10m.<\/p>\n<p>Running sands favourable for\u00a0brine aquifers were intersected at these same levels.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Liberty Lithium Brine project. Pic via QXR<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Potential lithium offtake<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This potential to produce lithium brine products has drawn the attention of development-stage, battery-grade lithium products manufacturer Stardust Power, which has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with QXR.<\/p>\n<p>Both companies will negotiate a formal agreement to assess the lithium brines from the Liberty project and \u2013 depending on results \u2013 evaluate options to potentially supply Stardust with lithium brine products on a non-exclusive basis for processing into battery-grade lithium materials for use in electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Stardust Power is developing a strategically and centrally located lithium refinery in Muskogee, Oklahoma, capable of producing up to 50,000tpa of battery grade lithium.<\/p>\n<p>This is likely to have no shortage of potential customers given there are over 25 battery giga-factories currently under development across the US, all of which will need substantial quantities of lithium.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQXR has been in discussions with Direct Lithium Extraction technology providers, lithium product processors and end users to advance the liberty Lithium Project dependant on results,\u201d managing director Stephen Promnitz said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStardust is an emerging new processor of lithium for batteries and we are keen to advance discussions with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Location map of Liberty Lithium area (SaltFire Flat project).
