{"id":6516,"date":"2024-02-29T02:05:58","date_gmt":"2024-02-29T02:05:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=6516"},"modified":"2024-02-29T02:05:58","modified_gmt":"2024-02-29T02:05:58","slug":"eagle-mountain-spots-uranium-and-thorium-during-reassessment-of-silver-mountain-project-in-arizona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=6516","title":{"rendered":"Eagle Mountain spots uranium and thorium during reassessment of Silver Mountain project in Arizona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several uranium anomalies with elevated thorium hosted in radiogenic pegmatites at the Silver Mountain project in Arizona<br \/>\nExtensive pegmatites mapped in the north-western area of Silver Mountain, known as Scarlett<br \/>\nFurther detailed mapping is planned to test the vertical extent of the mineralisation system <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report:<\/em><\/strong><strong> Arizona copper developer Eagle Mountain has uncovered several uranium anomalies with elevated thorium in radiogenic pegmatites in the northwest area of its Silver Mountain project. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/eagle-mountain-mining-em2\/\">Eagle Mountain Mining\u2019s (ASX:EM2)<\/a> Silver Mountain project, north-west of Phoenix in Arizona, sits on the Laramide Arc, a northwest-southeast trending geological feature containing world-class porphyry copper mines such as Freeport McMoran\u2019s Bagdad, Miami and BHP\/Rio Tinto\u2019s Resolution deposit.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Silver Mountain and surrounding deposits in Arizona USA. Pic: Supplied (EM2)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It also lies on the southern extension of a northeast-southwest prospective metallogenic belt that hosts United Verde and Iron King, two historical mines of volcanogenic massive sulphide affinity.<\/p>\n<p>The intersection of these two trends results in a favourable geologic setting with high complexity and potential for multiple mineralisation styles.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Uranium, rare-earth deposit on the cards <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While EM2 continues with its scoping study on Oracle Ridge, it recently had the opportunity to reassess its early exploration at the 100%-owned Silver Mountain project, which encompasses three main prospects \u2013 Pacific Horizon, Scarlett and Red Mule.<\/p>\n<p>Following up on a known uranium occurrence, a field team recently undertook further investigation through a mapping and sampling program.<\/p>\n<p>Altered pegmatites and other granitic rocks were mapped and sampled that showed spectrometer radioactivity and confirmed pegmatite dykes in the Scarlett area near the historical Silver Dollar mine.<\/p>\n<p>Consulting geologist Dr Linus Keating concluded his recent report with the acknowledgment of Silver Dollar as a unique occurrence for the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt should be followed up thoroughly as a unique uranium-rare earth deposit could be present,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Exploration work to unearth mineral intersections <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWith the recent pause in exploration, sampling and mapping at Oracle Ridge, our geology team has had a close look at the previous work conducted at the Scarlett project and has developed a new model focussed on the unique radioactive pegmatites and granites,\u201d EM2 managing director Charlie Bass says.<\/p>\n<p>EM2 now plans to undertake detailed mapping of pegmatites at Silver Dollar, including a systematic scintillometer survey along known outcrops.<\/p>\n<p>Petrography work to identify key uranium, thorium and rare earth minerals will aid in determining the key recoverable elements and potential mill grade, EM2 says.<\/p>\n<p>A drill program will then be designed to find productive mineral intercepts, test the vertical extent of the mineralisation system and test downhole radioactivity.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This article was developed in collaboration with Eagle Mountain Mining, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
