{"id":647,"date":"2023-10-30T03:27:25","date_gmt":"2023-10-30T03:27:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=647"},"modified":"2023-10-30T03:27:25","modified_gmt":"2023-10-30T03:27:25","slug":"send-in-the-drones-pointerra-carbonix-partnership-to-reshape-data-and-analytics-in-mining","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=647","title":{"rendered":"Send in the drones: Pointerra, Carbonix partnership to reshape data and analytics in mining"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leading drone solutions provider Carbonix and geospatial analytics company Pointerra join forces to elevate LiDAR data processing in the Australian drone industry.<\/p>\n<p>Perth-based <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/pointerra-3dp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pointerra (ASX:3DP)<\/a> has signed a strategic partnership with leading drone solutions provider <a href=\"https:\/\/carbonix.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carbonix<\/a> as the two companies look to revolutionise the way the Utilities and Mining sectors in Australia leverage drone technology for enhanced data collection and analytics.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration aims to integrate Pointerra\u2019s cutting-edge post-flight LiDAR and imagery data processing solution with Carbonix\u2019s autonomous long-range drone platforms. <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/aftermarket\/unicorns-podcast-look-up-in-the-sky-its-a-bird-its-a-plane-its-carbonix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carbonix specialises in long range and large area aerial surveillance and precision data capture<\/a>. Capable of over 10 hours flight time and a customisable combined payload capability exceeding 5kg, Carbonix drones are engineered to accommodate challenging mission requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Carbonix works with the most technically advanced ISR, LiDAR and photogrammetry systems and recently launched a Beyond Visual Line of Site (BVLOS) capability fitted with both 3D LiDAR and 2D imagery sensors.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Mining focus<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Under the terms of the agreement, Carbonix will licence Pointerra\u2019s LiDAR processing solution Pointerra3D to fulfil data processing needs. It will also be made available as a standalone solution for third parties seeking the complete drone package from Carbonix.<\/p>\n<p>Carbonix CEO, Philip van der Burg, said what sets this collaboration apart is the alignment of mutual customers and prospects within the Australian Utilities and Mining sectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy partnering with Pointerra, Carbonix can provide a solution bundle that seamlessly integrates the data captured by our aircraft with Pointerra\u2019s advanced data processing capabilities, to the Utilities and Mining sectors. The solution bundle encompasses three key pillars to delivering valuable insights: data acquisition (by our state-of-the-art drones), execution of operations, and Processing, Analytics and Reporting (PAR) of valuable insights for asset owners,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis partnership is not just about technology integration; it\u2019s about synergising our strengths to deliver unparalleled value to our clients. By leveraging both Carbonix and Pointerra\u2019s experience\u00a0 in the Australian and US mining and power transmission and distribution space, we will unlock exciting opportunities for joint commercial operations that will drive innovation and efficiency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pointerra and Carbonix have also announced their intention to explore strategic opportunities that showcase the immense value of their end-to-end solution as they look to leverage their position as industry leaders in providing a comprehensive and innovative offering to their customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Blue Chip Partners<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Carbonix announced earlier this year a partnership with Australia\u2019s largest independent aerospace composite manufacturer <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/quickstep-holdings-qhl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Quickstep Holdings (ASX:QHL)<\/a> that will see Carbonix <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/tech\/quickstep-ramps-up-drone-production-with-multi-million-dollar-carbonix-contract\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">triple its production over the next year.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quickstep is Australia\u2019s largest independent aerospace composites manufacturer, producing high complexity composite components for customers including Lockheed Martin, Boeing and BAE Systems.\u00a0Carbonix\u2019s cutting-edge uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) are designed for precise, long-range data capture at scale, leveraging lightweight structures, advanced aerodynamics, and proprietary avionics.<\/p>\n<p>Carbonix long range drones ready for deployment at the company\u2019s workshop in Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>Under the $2.3 million contract, the two companies will jointly develop Carbonix\u2019s next generation <a href=\"https:\/\/carbonix.com.au\/ottano-x\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ottano<\/a> surveillance drone. It follows a<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/tech\/quickstep-ramps-up-drone-production-with-multi-million-dollar-carbonix-contract\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> $1 million investment Quickstep made in Carbonix back in July 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Quickstep <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/tech\/quickstep-accelerates-drone-production-with-australian-developer-carbonix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">began manufacturing<\/a> Volanti (Carbonix\u2019s all-electric airframe) in 2022, allowing Carbonix to fulfil an order from Anduril, the US defence tech startup founded by tech entrepreneur Palmer Luckey that recently won a $US1 billion counter-drone contract from the US Special Operations Command.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Carbonix, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
