{"id":637,"date":"2023-10-30T02:17:31","date_gmt":"2023-10-30T02:17:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=637"},"modified":"2023-10-30T02:17:31","modified_gmt":"2023-10-30T02:17:31","slug":"indiana-begins-gold-ree-and-base-metals-search-in-south-australian-elephant-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=637","title":{"rendered":"Indiana begins gold, REE and base metals search in South Australian elephant country"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IDA completes field reconnaissance ahead of 2023\/24 exploration program in South Australia\u2019s Gawler Craton<br \/>\nWhile gold has been the historical focus at the project, IDA is also investigating REE and base metals potential<br \/>\nFurther heritage clearances requested to access new targets<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Indiana Resources has resumed its gold, rare earths and base metals hunt in South Australia\u2019s Gawler Craton following a $3.8m cap raise.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The company holds 5,713km2 in the region, with its tenements strategically located between the\u00a0historic gold mining centres of Tunkillia (965,000oz gold resource) and Tarcoola (15,800oz gold resource).<\/p>\n<p>While there\u2019s a historical focus on gold,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/indiana-resources-ida\/\"><strong>Indiana Resources (ASX:IDA)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has also identified considerable Rare Earth Elements (REE) potential and is progressing plans for a targeted drilling program.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month the company confirmed it had raised <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/indiana-raises-3-8m-to-accelerate-rare-earth-gold-exploration-in-south-australia\/\"><strong>priced at $0.05 per share.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A field reconnaissance program of key prospects has now been completed with the aim of assessing Rare Earth Elements (REE), gold and base metal targets to allow development of an exploration program for the 2023\/2024 year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe exploration strategy will consist of well designed, strongly focussed programs to unlock the full potential of our landholdings in the Gawler, and now that we are strongly funded, we will be able to proceed with these activities in a methodical and consistent manner,\u201d IDA executive chair Bronwyn Barnes said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Historical drill hole spoil (MIM hole CW51) within a N-S drill fence east of Ariadne. Pic via Indiana Resources<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Unlocking the REE, gold and base metals potential of the Gawler Craton<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The field reconnaissance assessed the following targets:<\/p>\n<p>Minos \u2013 REE target evaluation and metallurgical sample collection;<br \/>\nMinos \u2013 gold target review and petrographic core sampling;<br \/>\nRegional gold target assessment \u2013 Company Well, Partridge, Earea Dam, Moolkra, Double Dutch and Boomerang; and<br \/>\nHopeful Hill \u2013 VTEM base metal (nickel-copper-cobalt-PGE) target and host rock evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>Gold exploration is focussed on the advanced gold targets in the Lake Labyrinth Shear Zone (LLSZ) corridor including Minos and Ariadne where existing statutory and heritage clearances have allowed exploration to proceed.<\/p>\n<p>A Native Title Mining Agreement was signed with the Gawler Ranges Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (GRAC) last year and based on previous heritage surveys completed in this area, exploration can proceed at Double Dutch and Hopeful Hill on approval of an Exploration Program for Environment Protection and Rehabilitation (EPEPR).<\/p>\n<p>Further heritage clearances are under request to allow access to Earea Dam, Moolkra and Boomerang for ground disturbing activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very pleased that the company\u2019s exploration manager has been able to quickly reactivate exploration programmes in South Australia, commencing with the field reconnaissance visit and the lodgement of statutory approval documents required to access new target areas within the LLSZ corridor,\u201d Barnes said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Metallurgical work and exploration planning under way<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>At Minos, the key objective was collecting large samples for beneficiation and metallurgical test work.<\/p>\n<p>Samples were taken grading between 1,100ppm to a massive 47,700ppm, with more details around test work to be released after initial screening and metal distribution assessment is completed.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, diamond core samples stored at the company\u2019s Adelaide warehouse have been selected for petrographic thin section analysis to determine the alteration assemblages associated with gold mineralisation, unmineralised wall rocks at Minos and the original host rocks.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exploration programs and budgets for the remainder of this year and 2024 are currently being prepared, with timelines expected to be determined in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Indiana Resources, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
