{"id":6127,"date":"2024-02-21T01:07:12","date_gmt":"2024-02-21T01:07:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=6127"},"modified":"2024-02-21T01:07:12","modified_gmt":"2024-02-21T01:07:12","slug":"pleasant-surprise-kingsland-minerals-stumbles-on-a-200ppm-lithium-anomaly-at-lake-johnston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=6127","title":{"rendered":"Pleasant surprise: Kingsland Minerals stumbles on a +200ppm lithium anomaly at Lake Johnston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maiden soil sampling at Lake Johnston has delineated high-grade lithium, returning a +200 ppm Li2O anomaly over 6.5km x 3km<br \/>\nThe successful find warrants an extension to the program to cover the newly acquired tenements<br \/>\nKingsland plans to define drill targets through soil sampling <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report<\/em>: Initial soil sampling at Kingsland Minerals\u2019 Lake Johnston project in WA has demonstrated huge lithium potential after uncovering a 6.5km x 3km soil anomaly. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/kingsland-minerals-kng\/\">Kingsland Minerals (ASX:KNG)<\/a> kicked off a soil sampling program at Lake Johnston in early December, focused on the western fringes of the greenstone belt which bears the project\u2019s name.<\/p>\n<p>While the area is a known location for lithium-bearing pegmatites, the geology at the Lake Johnston project is poorly understood, as much of the tenure has been mapped as granite.<\/p>\n<p>Zones of greenstones have been intersected in historical drilling and KNG believes there\u2019s potential for mafics, ultramafics and sediments to be faulted into the granites.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Location of the company\u2019s Lake Johnston tenements. Pic: Supplied (KNG)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Extension to soil sampling program <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>KNG is on a mission to delineate high-grade pegmatites hosted in lithium mineralisation at Lake Johnson, with the soil sampling survey successfully turning up assays of +200ppm over an area of 6.5km x 3km.<\/p>\n<p>The anomaly is open to the north and south and based on this initial success.<\/p>\n<p>KNG now plans to extend the soil sampling program to cover the recently acquired ground directly to the north of E63\/2068.<\/p>\n<p>This additional tenement increases the size of the company\u2019s Lake Johnston tenure to 770km2.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Defining targets to identify high-grade areas <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThese results show there is clearly huge lithium potential at Lake Johnston,\u201d KNG managing director Richard Maddocks says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had strong evidence for the presence of pegmatites and lithium from sampling historic drill holes and this recent soil sampling program confirms the presence of a significant, extensive high-grade lithium anomaly in soils.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn light of these outstanding results and the potential for pegmatite-hosted lithium mineralisation, we plan to define drill targets through soil sampling to identify the highest-grade areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Kingsland Minerals, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
