{"id":5710,"date":"2024-02-12T04:02:24","date_gmt":"2024-02-12T04:02:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=5710"},"modified":"2024-02-12T04:02:24","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T04:02:24","slug":"burley-begins-its-hunt-for-channel-iron-deposits-at-broad-flat-well-with-a-bang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=5710","title":{"rendered":"Burley begins its hunt for channel iron deposits at Broad Flat Well with a bang"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rock chip sampling at Burley Minerals\u2019 Broad Flat Well project returns average grade of 56.3% iron<br \/>\nAbout 660,000m2 of sub-outcropping CID mineralisation in three deposits identified to date<br \/>\nRC drilling to test these deposits planned along with further mapping and sampling<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Special Report: Burley Minerals\u2019 hunt for channel iron deposits at its Broad Well Flat project in WA\u2019s Pilbara region is off to a fantastic start with rock chip sampling returning an average grade of 56.3% iron.<\/p>\n<p><span>The ~223km2 Broad Well Flat project sits within the world-class Hamersley iron ore province, which is chock-full of producing projects operated by the giant iron ore miners, giving a hint as to its potential for scale and economic grades.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Broad Well Flat is also just ~115km by sealed road from Dampier Port, granting it easy, year-round access to a potential export route and services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Adding interest for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/burley-minerals-bur\/\">Burley Minerals (ASX:BUR)<\/a><span>, the project itself is already known to have the potential to host channel iron deposits (CID) with historical rock chip assays returning up to 61.5% iron.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>CIDs are\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/your-iron-clad-guide-to-iron-ore-terminology\/\">iron-rich sedimentary stream deposits<\/a><span>\u00a0that are a significant source of iron ore in projects such as BHP and Rio Tinto\u2019s Yandicoogina deposits and the latter\u2019s Robe operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Broad Flat Well project. Pic supplied (BUR)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Sampling proves presence of CIDs<\/h2>\n<p><span>BUR has now proven the iron ore potential of Broad Flat Well after the 36 rock chip samples collected from CID outcrops returned an average grade of 56.3% iron, with a maximum value of 59.4% iron.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This identified about 660,000m2 of sub-outcropping CID mineralisation in three deposits with thicknesses of 2-10m evident in breakaways.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The target areas were interpreted to possibly comprise higher iron grades, topographically higher, and have not yet been sampled to date.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sampling was conducted on traverses spaced 400m apart \u2013 and along the traverses at approximately 50m spacing \u2013 orthogonal to the main trend of the palaeo-drainage systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe assay results received from Burley\u2019s Broad Flat Well iron ore project provide an exciting start to revealing the extent of CID deposits,\u201d BUR managing director Stewart McCallion said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThese iron deposits are high-lying and readily accessible for RC drilling, which will commence when statutory approvals are received.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cFurthermore, Burley has identified other CID targets within the tenement, and we look forward to getting back on the ground and advancing these as well.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Next steps<\/h2>\n<p><span>BUR is now planning a first-pass reverse circulation drilling program to test the mesa-form CID targets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>More mapping and rock chip sampling is also being planned to test the project\u2019s potential to host additional CID mineralisation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This article was developed in collaboration with Burley Minerals, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
