{"id":5704,"date":"2024-02-12T03:28:27","date_gmt":"2024-02-12T03:28:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=5704"},"modified":"2024-02-12T03:28:27","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T03:28:27","slug":"tambourah-metals-uncovers-elevated-lithium-values-at-its-shaw-river-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=5704","title":{"rendered":"Tambourah Metals uncovers elevated lithium values at its Shaw River project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rock chip sampling at Shaw River returns strong lithium, tin and tantalum assays<br \/>\nTambourah Metals says most elevated lithium values are associated with biotite-bearing pegmatites<br \/>\nFurther exploration to be carried out at anomalous rock chip sites <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report:<\/em> Exploration at Tambourah Metals\u2019 Shaw River project near Port Hedland, WA, is uncovering signs of its lithium potential with rock chip sampling returning up to 3,660ppm Li.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/tambourah-stalks-its-biggest-prey-hard-rock-lithium-in-the-pilbara\/\"><strong>Shaw River<\/strong><\/a> was acquired from <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/minrex-resources-mrr\/\"><strong>Minrex Resources (ASX:MRR)<\/strong><\/a> in July 2023 and contains the historical Shaw River tin field that was mined extensively for alluvial tin deposits.<\/p>\n<p>It sits on the southern margin of the Cooglegong Monzogranite, a \u201ctin granite\u201d, and is part of the regionally important Split Rocks Supersuite associated with major pegmatite-hosted lithium deposits in the Pilbara.<\/p>\n<p>Since acquiring the tenement, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/tambourah-metals-tmb\/\"><strong>Tambourah Metals (ASX:TMB)<\/strong><\/a> has completed rock chip sampling, shallow auger sampling of alluvial dumps and localised RC drilling below historical alluvial workings as part of a reconnaissance program to assess the potential for pegmatite-hosted LCT mineralisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rock chip sample distribution at Shaw River. Pic: Supplied (TMB)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Exploration unlocking lithium potential<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>TMB collected 109 rock chip samples from two areas broadly corresponding with alluvial channels, firstly in the Old Shaw Creek area and secondly around the Shaw River near the north-western area of the tenement.<\/p>\n<p>This returned up to 3,660ppm lithium, 4,251ppm tin and 129ppm tantalum with most of the elevated lithium values associated with biotite-bearing pegmatites.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, shallow auger sampling over tailings dumps related to the historical Shaw River mine has returned modest values of lithium, tin and tantalum.<\/p>\n<p>Selected samples will be re-submitted for fusion analysis to check the acid digest results.<\/p>\n<p>RC drilling around the area of the Old Shaw River Creek workings have also returned consistently elevated background LCT elements, which is indicative of a fertile, fractionated granite as a potential source for pegmatite-hosted LCT mineralisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Further activity<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>TMB will now evaluate anomalous rock chip sites and extend sampling over the project, noting geological controls.<\/p>\n<p>It will also investigate fractionation trends within existing data to identify zoning within the Cooglegong Monzogranite.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the company will re-assay selected auger samples from alluvial dumps using a fusion analytical method for tin and tantalum.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Tambourah Metals, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
