At 8am AEDT, the ASX 200 index futures contract was pointing down by -0.7%.<\/p>\n On Friday, the S&P 500 rose by +1.07%. The blue chips Dow Jones index was up by +0.35%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq surged by +1.74%.<\/p>\n Tech stocks continued their charge after behemoths Amazon<\/strong> and Meta Platforms<\/strong> hit highs on solid earnings.<\/p>\n Meta surged 15% to a record high after smashing earnings expectations. Amazon jumped by +8% to a two-year high as Q4 sales came in ahead of forecasts at US$170bn.<\/p>\n President Biden meanwhile declared that America\u2019s economy \u201cis the strongest in the world\u201d after\u00a0 the latest non-farm payroll<\/strong> report released on Friday blew expectations away.<\/p>\n The US added 353,000 jobs in January, twice the forecast.<\/p>\n \u201cThe blowout January jobs report \u2013 payrolls surging, wages jumping, unemployment falling \u2013 means the Federal Reserve will be in no hurry to cut interest rates,\u201d said a note out of ING Bank.<\/p>\n \u201cHowever, we have to point out there are some less positive stories here. Nearly all the jobs the American economy is adding are part-time, and the average work week fell to 34.1 hours \u2013 that is recession territory!\u201d<\/p>\n Back home, the RBA<\/strong> will hand down its interest rates decision on Tuesday.<\/p>\n \u201cThis week\u2019s board meeting looks set to be a non-event, with pricing showing a certain hold. \nLGI has entered into a Landfill Gas Rights agreement with BINGO Industries, covering BINGO\u2019s Eastern Creek landfill site in Western Sydney. The agreement entitles LGI to install landfill gas extraction infrastructure, and install, operate, and own a 4-megawatt (4MW) renewable power station on the site. The agreement provides for renewable electricity generated on site to be sold to BINGO. The initial term of the agreement is 15 years with two options for 5-year extensions. Phase one of the project is forecast to earn annual EBITDA of between $3.0m and $3.5m, depending on electricity prices.<\/p>\n
