{"id":5050,"date":"2024-01-30T03:01:53","date_gmt":"2024-01-30T03:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=5050"},"modified":"2024-01-30T03:01:53","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T03:01:53","slug":"gcx-metals-identifies-10km-long-lithium-anomaly-directly-within-the-shear-at-southern-cross","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=5050","title":{"rendered":"GCX Metals identifies 10km-long lithium anomaly \u2018directly within the shear\u2019 at Southern Cross"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 10km-long x 2km-wide lithium anomaly has been identified from 1,770 soil samples<br \/>\nSouthern Cross is north of Covalent Lithium\u2019s giant Mt Holland project<br \/>\nAn infill program is planned across the soil sampling area<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report<\/em><\/strong><strong>: A whopping 1,770 results from renowned CSIRO UltraFine soil sampling has identified a 10km-long lithium anomaly at GCX Metals\u2019 Southern Cross project in WA.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/gcx-metals-gcx\/\"><strong>GCX Metals\u2019 (ASX:GCX)<\/strong><\/a> 800km2 Southern Cross project lies along trend of the greenstone belts to the north and south of Southern Cross, including Covalent Lithium\u2019s giant Mt Holland lithium operation (186Mt @ 1.53% Li2O) and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/zenith-minerals-znc\/\"><strong>Zenith Minerals\u2019 (ASX:ZNC)<\/strong><\/a> Split Rocks project (11.9Mt @ 0.72% Li2O), both within the Southern Cross domain.<\/p>\n<p>Southern Cross and nearby projects. Pic: Supplied (GCX)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A lithium anomaly with significant scale potential<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The anomaly is coincident with a major fault structure associated with the Koolyanobbing shear zone \u2013 a large northwest\u2010trending, crustal\u2010scale, ductile shear zone in the Archaean granitoid\u2010greenstone terrain of WA\u2019s Yilgarn Craton.<\/p>\n<p>Assays revealed a large continuous ~10km x ~2km lithium anomaly coincident with the mapped northwest trending structural features.<\/p>\n<p>A maximum soil result of 171ppm Li2O was discovered which the explorer says is considered highly anomalous.<\/p>\n<p>The company says it will now accelerate a program to infill the anomaly down to 250m x 250m spacing to further identify targets.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u2018Lithium fits well into our developing portfolio\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>GCX managing director Thomas Line says the Southern Cross project is a grass roots, district-scale lithium play which sits on a highly prospective lithium trend, hosting the Tier 1 Mt Holland Lithium deposit 170km to the south.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very pleased to have secured over 800km2 of an unexplored shear zone in the Archaean granitoid\u2010greenstone terrain of WA, a region with striking structural geological similarities to Greenbushes,\u201d Line says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo reveal a large and coherent lithium anomaly directly within the shear is a satisfying proof of geological concept.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a diversified critical metals explorer, lithium fits well into our developing portfolio.
