Special Report:<\/em> Initial soil sampling at Moab Minerals\u2019 Woodlands gold and base metals project in WA\u2019s Murchison region has identified two gold anomalous areas over a 20km structural corridor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Woodlands comprises gold targets in the south of the tenement associated with east-west structures and an unusual, bright green alteration mineral called variscite.<\/p>\n

It sits on the western extent of the Jillawarra Belt, a structurally controlled zone of clastic and carbonate sedimentary rocks, and is also considered to be prospective for Abra-style base metal mineralisation.<\/p>\n

While gold results are not available from historical exploration, arsenic results \u2013 which are expected to correlate with gold in this geological environment \u2013 show anomalous trends extending east and west of the variscite prospect into the tenements held by Moab Minerals (ASX:MOM)<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

MOM has completed soil sampling<\/strong><\/a> along strike of the variscite-gold prospect using a technique that is sensitive to both gold and base metals.<\/p>\n

Gold anomalies<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The BLEG soil sampling program carried out on north-south lines spaced 400m apart. Samples were taken on 40m intervals and identified two separate gold anomalous trends, the first of which is a gold in soil anomaly extending over 2km east of the variscite gold mine area.<\/p>\n

Coarse gold was reported in one location, although this has not been found again as the historical mine was filled-in to prevent access by fossickers.<\/p>\n

MOM\u2019s other anomalous trend extends 500m east of the former drill area at Anomaly 27 where historical drilling of an outcropping quartz vein returned assays of up to 3.08g\/t gold and 22g\/t silver.<\/p>\n

This hole drilled by Geopeko did not reach target depth and it was stopped at 82m due to high water flows.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the gold anomaly and location of the drilling coincide with a distinct anticlinal fold structure in the Kinagi Creek Formation.<\/p>\n

Forward plan<\/strong><\/h2>\n

During the current quarter, MOM plans to complete the review of soil sampling results and plan follow-up exploration at the Woodlands project.<\/p>\n
