{"id":4876,"date":"2024-01-25T01:12:21","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T01:12:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=4876"},"modified":"2024-01-25T01:12:21","modified_gmt":"2024-01-25T01:12:21","slug":"asx-health-stocks-memphasys-tumbles-almost-30pc-after-cow-pregnancy-trial-disappoints","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=4876","title":{"rendered":"ASX Health Stocks: Memphasys tumbles almost 30pc after cow pregnancy trial disappoints"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Memphasys drops 30pc after trial results disappoint investors<br \/>\nEcho IQ licences its cardio decision-support tool, EchoSolv, to Respiri<br \/>\nTruscreen\u2019s sales up 40pc in Q3<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Memphasys down 30pc after trial results disappoint<\/h2>\n<p>Reproductive biotech, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/memphasys-mem\/\">Memphasys (ASX:MEM)<\/a><\/strong>, dropped almost 30% today after reporting findings from a field trial of <strong>Artificial Insemination (AI)-Port<\/strong> at a partner stud farm in the Hunter region, NSW.<\/p>\n<p>The trial was conducted with four bulls across 146 cows using Memphasys\u2019 ambient temperature AI-Port system.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the field trial was to increase pregnancy rates and introduce operational improvements over traditional AI using cryostored semen.<\/p>\n<p>Memphasys reported that<strong> pregnancy rates were achieved at only 60% of the rates observed with conventional cryostorage procedures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>MEM says it will use these results to improve identifiable areas in order to make operational improvements.<\/p>\n<p>This will involve modifications, which could include supplementation with additional antioxidants, or making changes to the energy substrates composition.<\/p>\n<p>The major operational improvement however will involve establishing a field laboratory at the site of semen collection, so that the ejaculate is not compromised prior to its suspension in AI-Port medium.<\/p>\n<p>MEM\u2019s AI-Port stores and transports animal semen for artificial insemination for up to seven days without the harmful effects of freezing sperm used in standard AI procedures in livestock.<\/p>\n<p>The company estimates that the addressable beef bovine (non-dairy) market size to be in the magnitude of nearly $2.4 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the results are a significant improvement on the initial field trial conducted in April 2023, there is still more work to be done to make it comparable to traditional AI practices in cattle,\u201d said MEM acting CEO, David Ali.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite this, MEM remains strongly of the belief that we can close the gap to conventional practice with the eventual aim of successfully providing better outcomes over traditional AI methods,\u201d said Ali.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>EchoIQ to license technology to Respiri<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/echo-iq-eiq\/\">Echo IQ (ASX:EIQ)<\/a><\/strong> has entered into an exclusive commercial licensing agreement with medical techcompany <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/respiri-rsh\/\">Respiri (ASX: RSH)<\/a><\/strong> to apply <strong>Echo IQ\u2019s AI-backed EchoSolv<\/strong> cardiovascular platform to <strong>Respiri\u2019s Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM)<\/strong> user base.<\/p>\n<p>Respiri\u2019s RPM platform is widely used in the US, as it allows healthcare providers to give ongoing patient care after the patient has left consultation or discharged from hospital.
