{"id":453,"date":"2023-10-26T02:35:27","date_gmt":"2023-10-26T02:35:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=453"},"modified":"2023-10-26T02:35:27","modified_gmt":"2023-10-26T02:35:27","slug":"continued-widespread-intersections-dy6-drills-into-more-high-grade-magnet-rare-earths-in-malawi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=453","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Continued widespread intersections\u2019: DY6 drills into more high-grade magnet rare earths in Malawi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DY6 reports more high-grade heavy rare earths and niobium from drilling at its Machinga project in Malawi<br \/>\nMachinga is just 40km from one of the largest rare earths projects outside of China<br \/>\nAssays averaged 29% HREO: TREO and 3.6% DyTb:TREO at a cut-off grade of &gt;0.25% TREO<br \/>\nResults from diamond drilling expected shortly, metallurgical work planned<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>DY6 Metals uncovers more high-grade <\/strong><strong>heavy rare earths elements (REEs) and niobium from the remaining 13 holes of its RC drilling program at the Machinga Main Northern Zone, part of its flagship Machinga project in southern Malawi.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project is just 40km from Lindian Resources\u2019 261Mt at 2.19% TREO Kangankunde project, described as one of the biggest and best rare earths projects outside of China.<\/p>\n<p>Like Kangankunde, Machinga is enriched with high-value HREEs such as dysprosium and terbium (DyTb) \u2013 both of which are in growing demand for magnets in electric vehicles, wind turbine generators and hard disc devices.<\/p>\n<p>The project also holds significant niobium and tantalum potential as well, with niobium gaining popularity for its ability to cut charging times and fire risks in lithium-ion batteries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/dy6-metals-dy6\/\"><strong>DY6 Metals (ASX:DY6)<\/strong><\/a> says the latest assays have returned an average of 29% Heavy Rare Earth Oxides (HREO): Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO) and 3.6% DyTb:TREO at a cut-off grade of &gt;0.25% TREO.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Widespread heavy rare earths and niobium<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The results are from 1m and 3m composite intervals from the third batch of 13 holes (1,161m) and showed continued widespread HREE and Nb intersections including:<\/p>\n<p>11m at 0.74% TREO, 0.29%Nb2O5 from surface (3.8% DyTb\/TREO) including 2m at 1.36% TREO, 0.49% Nb2O5 from 6m (4% Dy\/Tb\/TREO);<br \/>\n5m at 0.56% TREO, 0.20% Nb2O5 from 103m (3.7% DyTb\/TREO);<br \/>\n12m at 0.39% TREO, 0.10% Nb2O5 from 6m (3.5% DyTb\/TREO);<br \/>\n6m at 0.55% TREO, 0.18% Nb2O5 from 43m (4.1% DyTb\/TREO); and<br \/>\n4m at 0.58% TREO, 0.14% Nb2O5 from 16m (4.3% DyTb\/TREO).<\/p>\n<p>The two prior batches also delivered high-grade RC intercepts including <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/shallow-thick-continuous-and-stacked-how-big-is-dy6s-machinga-rare-earths-discovery\/\"><strong>7m <\/strong><strong>at<\/strong><strong> 1.42% TREO with 0.49% Nb2O5 from 65m<\/strong><\/a> and 13m at 0.65% TREO with 0.25% Nb2O5 from surface.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Machinga\u2019s project location in Southern Malawi.
