Good morning everyone, and welcome to Wednesday, 13 December \u2013 an important date on the cultural calendar, as it was on this day in 1759 that the first music store in the United States opened its doors for the first time.<\/p>\n
Within 45 minutes, the store\u2019s proprietor \u2013 Michael Hillegas \u2013 was forced to put up a sign reading \u201cNO STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN\u201d next to the guitar section.<\/p>\n
It was a bold move by Hillegas \u2013 opening the music store, not the thing with the sign \u2013 as the city of Philadelphia was, at that time, still well and truly under the influence of the very religious and ultra-conservative Calvinists and Quakers.<\/p>\n
Those communities\u2019 loathing of music and other forms of entertainment was the stuff of legend, and \u2013\u00a0rumour has it \u2013 that both of these factions of Christianity were staunchly opposed to the idea of married couples having sex standing up, as it could lead to people dancing.<\/p>\n
The music shop was quite a hit among the city\u2019s population, and led directly to the birth of one of Philadelphia\u2019s greatest musical exports in 1968, who called himself The Fresh Prince.<\/p>\n
It was, of course, noted actor Will Smith, who went from being born in Philadelphia to rising through the ranks of the Hollywood elite, culminating in him assaulting a comedian live on TV, just minutes before accepting the highest possible honour the global film industry has to offer.<\/p>\n
The City of Brotherly Love, indeed.<\/p>\n

Click headings to sort:<\/p>\n WordPress Tables Plugin<\/a><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Yesterday\u2019s Small Caps highlights were:<\/p>\n Leading the Small Caps winners on Tuesday was UK-based telehealth company Doctor Care Anywhere Group PLC (ASX:DOC)<\/a>, which is making some decent (and rapid) gains this morning after news broke that the company is set to repay its December 2022 senior loan facility with AXA PPP Healthcare Group.<\/p>\n In second place, it was Widgie Nickel (ASX:WIN)<\/a>, which took off on an uphill sprint late in the day, seemingly of its own accord, as the company hasn\u2019t had much to say to the market for quite some time.<\/p>\n It\u2019s also been on a steady decline in trading price since early October, falling from $0.23 to $0.082 Monday, so this sudden rush of blood to the head is a little mysterious \u2013 the price for nickel did jump overnight to reach US$16,300\/tonne, but that\u2019s hardly enough to move Widgie\u2019s needle to the extent that it moved yesterday.<\/p>\n Titomic (ASX:TTT)<\/a> was on a slow burn Tuesday, but managed to squeak into the Top 3 by the close of play, thanks to news that the company has signed on to a strategic manufacturing partnership agreement with St\u00e4rke Advanced Manufacturing Group (St\u00e4rke), a global, advanced manufacturer headquartered in South Australia.<\/p>\n The announcement makes no specific mention of precisely what the two companies are going to be collaborating on, but it does mention that St\u00e4rke is quite heavily into \u201cvarious high-performance sectors, including defence, aerospace, and automotive\u201d.
