From macro musings to the metaverse and everything in between, Whelan offers his distilled thoughts on the hot topic of the day, week, month or year, from the point of view of a professional money manager.<\/p>\n<p>Good afternoon,<\/p>\n<p>Home stretch and the last note for the year.<\/p>\n<p>Christmas plans are well underway with hams being looked at and glazes being decided.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll be opting for:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 \u2013<\/strong> The biggest ham I can find, and;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 \u2013<\/strong> Honey glaze<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve not done a ham before but the confidence is there to charge in after the wild success of my turkey at Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of wild confidence, energy levels are at a high here at BPC HQ, having successfully completed the rights issue and shortfall for <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/wellnex-life-wnx\/\"><strong>Wellnex Life (ASX:WNX)<\/strong><\/a> to acquire Pain Away.<\/p>\n<p>Little things like the work done last week show that if it wasn\u2019t for the hard work of some determined people then a lot of good things wouldn\u2019t happen to some deserving companies.<\/p>\n<p>We cover that and many more things <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/6CTWIuOd5gU?si=f2o8es09MizOIVFa\">on the podcast this week<\/a>, which I am proud of.<\/p>\n<p>We go into the Last Days of Rome being played out live from Ryan\u2019s Bar as we see more data showing that while Australian GDP is still fine we\u2019re experiencing a per-capita GDP.<\/p>\n<h2>Aussie GDP<\/h2>\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That being said it\u2019s still a madhouse in the Sydney pubs as we continue to wait for the recession, which seemed so inevitable a while ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Via X<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>WE PAY TOO MUCH TAX.<\/h2>\n<p>We should be paying less tax.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Via Creative Planning<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, overseas we will reiterate the numbers for November.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>No. 9<\/h2>\n<p>Ninth best month for the 60\/40 portfolio since January 1976.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s remarkable.<\/p>\n<p>Go find my old notes <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/experts\/free-whelan-were-almost-there-now-just-buy-the-dips-and-consider-holding-these-7-etfs-through-2023\/\">from the end of 2022<\/a> and you\u2019ll see a lot that I was writing about was how good the 60\/40 would do, against the consensus of the BofA Fund Manager Survey crowd <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/experts\/free-whelan-its-a-festivus-for-the-rest-of-us-who-chose-to-bathe-in-appropriate-attire\/\">who did not see it going very well at all<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Keep the faith<\/h2>\n<p>Now over to India, which is still my favourite emerging market and one that all should have a really good look at for a potential investment.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s about to overtake Hong Kong in market size.<\/p>\n<p><em>Screenshot FT<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Keep the faith in India \u2013 there\u2019s no reason for what has happened there to stop any time soon.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, the market and economy are \u2013 in a rare example in the history of global markets \u2013 linked. The growth of the Indian middle class will continue to fund the Systematic Investment Plan which in turn goes right into the local market. Amazingly the net flow of foreign buying has turned positive again, so that\u2019s something to embolden you.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, when it comes to developed markets I\u2019d be happy to ease back on the allocation to equities somewhat.
